+1. Bryan what machine are you using with the D300/ 6" MFCP?

That thing is going to look amazing when complete!

Thanks Ivan! I have a GG setup for the 6" MF and a G110v2 for the 4" MF pad.

gmblack3a- That car has the hard BMW clear, right?

Not surprised you resorted to the sanding, those were nasty! Did you use the Mirka/Bulldog sander or a different one? I gather you like the air sanders too, huh? I still have a knee-jerk hatred of air sanders based on childhood toiling with D/As in a bodyshop, but maybe I oughta rethink that

How would you compare the M105 and D300?

Oh, and good on you for that shot at Vick :xyxthumbs

Accululator, I just typed out a long reply to your questions and hit the wrong button. Let me get back to you on that.

I was reading the world famous Nick Chapman's review on the system. He talked about slower speeds and still getting excellent results. I dialed my GG polisher with a 6" MFCP down to 4.5 from the 6 I was using yesterday. (I have my g110v2 setup with a 4" MFCP) At speed 4.5 I was able to do the correction pictured below. Hard to tell from the after pic, but it actually finished out better at the slower speed.

Here are a few from today, sorry not the exact same spot on the panel.

Having trouble getting rid of RIDS even after using 300/301. Any suggestions, or have a reached this systems capabilities...

Others here can contribute more/better advice than I can, but the following do come to mind:

-how many tries with the 300? Sometimes people do three or four and think that was soooo much but IMO it's not always the case

-the MFCP/300 can almost certainly take things down to primer if you do it long enough, but using that MFCP with M105 should up the cut a bit

-maybe the RIDS are too deep for safe removal

-I wouldn't switch to the 301 until you have the RIDS as good as you're gonna get 'em

About 3 cycles, working the product in with moderate pressure, then light pressure

Tried using UC with the MFCP, similar result, dont currently have any M105

Very possible, and I dont want to push it too much... Id rather live with a few RIDS then the other possibility... Black 2007 Lexus IS250 is the car... Maybe harder paint??? Im not sure... Dont believe its ever been corrected, so Im "assuming" that the clear is in decent shape still... Dont have a gauge, but from what Ive been reading, even if I did have one that was under $1000 alls it would tell me is the total paint thickness, which IMO is worthless, since I don't have a clue how thick the primer, base, clear were originally.

-I wouldn't switch to the 301 until you have the RIDS as good as you're gonna get 'em

I think I'm to that point... I wet sanded a couple of them just to "see" if I could get them... Used 2000 grit and it worked fine... but I can't see myself Spending that much time getting all of them... Would take a few days....hmmm

ChevyFan- No worries, I was able to figure things out :D

I've never done a Lexus, but I thought they were on the soft side. IMO 3 tries isn't all that many and I do quite a few more than that with M105 without wondering about it. Yeah, wetsanding by hand can be slow going if you're doing it carefully.

IME the ETGs *are* very useful even when they only give total-thickness readings, but you do have to do a bit of thinking. But in the absence of an ETG you do have to pretty much flip a coin when it comes to how far to go with the correction and I'd rather live with some RIDS than with really thin clear, for a whole lotta reasons.

I'll caution you to not get too caught up in some of the miracle-corrections you see posted here. Do what you think's sensible for you and then just don't worry about it. I bet the car will look swell even if it's not anywhere close to "Autopian perfection".

If MFCP/D300 won't cut enough, try 105 with the MFCP. You can spritz some water to extend polishing time.

When the MFCP won't "cut" it for me, I go to the surbuf pads.

Surbuf with 3 drops of M105 and 1 drop of D300. Spritz water as it starts to dry/turn clear. Keep on polishing and spritzing water. Usually you will need a middle step with either D300/MFCP or 205/tangerine prior to 205/black.

Thanks for the reply from both of you... Is the 105 a more aggresive cut than Ultimate compound? Im assuming so, but not sure. Seems I havent heard too much about UC, but I really liked it the couple of times I've used it.
