I bought some 777 today and tried it out on my truck.

Greetings everyone.

I'm not sure if this is the correct area or not but here goes -

I've never really been a car care kinda guy so go easy on me for a while. :nervous2:

I usually take it somewhere and get it cleaned and get on with other things.

Recently I had the Vette detailed by our own gmblack3a. Since then I've had the opportunity and pleasure to know Bryan a little better and ask all sorts of questions about detailing. I've become more interested in better car care and have started collecting supplies. Bryan has helped be a lot by demonstrating and providing hands on with some products.

I used MCME and some APC 777 on my Vette's drivers seat during the detail a short while back and was impressed.

I stopped off and got a gallon on Automagic 777 today. I only had a couple of hours to play and seeing as how my truck is nasty, I thought I would give it a shot.

My truck is a 1994 GMC extended cab that I bought new in '94. It has been garaged all it's life until about a year and a half ago when I got the Vette. The truck has about 141,000 miles on her.

As stated earlier, I really don't clean cars too much. :bolt

I only did the front part of the cab, the diamond plates that were made for me by a friend, and the wheels.

I know I missed some spots and will go back over them in a few days.

Thanks for any input.

Process

Mix 777 about 10 to 1. This was easy cause the measurements were on the spray bottle.

Vacuum loose dirt.

Carpets and mats -

Liberally applied the APC to the dirty areas on the carpet as well as spot clean the seats.

Aggitated with a nice stiff bristle brush.

Vacuumed using shop vac to remove as much moisture as possible.

Dash and center console -

Wipe down entire area with some 777 on a towel and let dry.

Apply 303, waited about 30 minutes and buffed.

Wheels -

Applied 777 to wheels and tires.

Aggitated wheels with Megs wheel brush to get in the little spoke areas.

Aggitated tires and lettering.

Rinsed clean.

Diamond Plate -

Cleaned with 777.

First I tred Megs but it just did not seem to be coming clean.

I then tired Blue Magic and I believe it cleaned better than the Megs.

Now for the embarassing pics -

Drivers side.

Passenger side mat on the right is done, drivers side mat is not.

Here is the plate. The approximate left half was just cleaned using Megs metal cleaner and polish, the approximate right half was recleaned using Blue Magic.

Wow that is quite a big change to your truck! That 777 really does work well. I feel for you, I cleaned my wifes car this week and spent over 5 hours doing the interior. It sure does make you feel better when it's clean and looking good. Excellent work!

Thanks Ben Kenobi -

I bet your wifes car is spotless after you got done. :bigups

Thanks Setec Astronomy -

I'm not showing the rest of my truck on purpose. :nervous2:

I hope to have some hands-on training soon on it and I'll post it here.

Excellent job on the whole thing!!!!

I have a quesiton. I am not familiar with the automagic 777, is it just an APC???? I'm asking because of the job it did on your wheels. I think I might have seen a hairline scratch or two in the "before", but the wheel looks absolutely perfect in the "after". Did you do anything to polish it?????

I have a 1998 Z71 with clearcoated aluminum wheels similar to yours, and my grandpa's '92 has the exact same wheels. They are scratched up because someone used a tire brush on them. What can I use to polish these out????

Thank you very much!!

Great job Jim!!!! The interior looks very good now as well as the wheels.

Yes the 777 is a APC. Automagic makes it. Jim and I are lucky enough to get it local near the Atlanta airport for $10 a gallon.

The 777 is a cleaner / degresser. (APC)

Check the bottom of this link for more information.

I did not polish the wheels. It might have been the camera angle or lighting to cause the scratch not to show - I'm not sure.

I would suggest the "Blue Magic Metal Polish", but, someone with some better experience might be able to give you some other products / pointers.

Thanks for the kudos and best of luck with your wheels. :bigups

Thanks Bryan.

I need to clean the truck before I bring it over to be detailed. :chuckle:

Thanks for the information yesterday on where to find the 777.

The fellow there was pretty nice to boot.

ok, I appreciate it guys. I haven't had time to clean the truck up yet, but I was planning on just trying ScratchX with a terry cloth.
