I've been into detailing since I got my first car, and am mostly self-taught aside from working in a detail shop for a few months when I was in high school in the 90s. When I was 17 I drove an hour to the nearest Harley-Davidson dealer to pick up some S100 wax because it wasn't available anywhere else.



Then I moved to Chicago and eventually bought a silver Jeep. I detailed it once myself when it was new, and paid a shop to do it every 1-3 months the rest of the time. Now I've got a new car (Infiniti G37x with Black Obsidian paint) and don't trust anyone else. I've recently rediscovered the joy of detailing and am hooked once again. And I'm amazed at all the new technology that's come out in the last few years.



I live in Chicago and have a garage with no water hookup, so ONR has been a Godsend. Anyway, nice to meet you all.

LOL! I can relate to the stress. The crosses we bear!
 
At the moment I'm in San Francisco and I see exactly what you're talking about :eek: I've seen Aston Martins and Maseratis and I just think it'snear impossible to keep them defect free. All kinds of cars have incredible marring and chipping. I just couldn't function in such a dense urban setting so I really tip my hat :yo: to all of you city-dwelling Autopians!
 
For what it's worth, I've seen Astons, Ferraris, Bentleys, Lamborghinis parallel parked on city streets, sometimes overnight. A neighbor had a 1980s Ferrari parked in front of his house for a few days without moving it. I can't decide if I should admire their carefree attitude or admonish their carelessness. :-\
