Instead of buying the Porter-Cable Polisher. I purchased the Vector Waxxpro (A display of me being cheap). I need polishing pads. Prefebly, the colored ones you guys use on your PC. How can I do this???
 
Most likely, you're not going to be able to find a backing plate that will be compatible with the pads we use and fit your machine. Your decision to be cheap will probably lead to you spending more money now than you would have by purchasing the better products in the first place.
 
The PC and the machine you purchased are not even in the same league. The best you can do with that wimpy (no offense) little thing is apply and remove wax. It will not remove swirl marks or polish the surface to a very high gloss like a PC. I don't think there is an easy way to attach hook/loop pads to that buffer. Does it have a fixed foam backing plate that's made for a bonnet to stretch over?? If so, than you may be SOL. Besides, if it's not a true PC, the foam hook and loop PC pads won't do you any good. All they would is spread polish/wax around on the surface. There isn't enough power in your machine to do any real mechanical polishing. Granted, it will make applying and removing products a little bit easier, but I wouldn't even draw even the slightest compariosn between Waxpro and a RO machine.

But as the others mentioned, you won't be able to use the pads that are talked about here with that Vector.



The smart thing to do, if you're serious about detailing, is return it and then buy a PC.
 
I just put it back in it's box and it's going back tomorrow. Now, instead of the internet. Where can I buy a PC???

Lowes has the 7336sp for 109.00 flat. If you can find a link somewhere (try slickdeals.net) you might be able to find a 10% Mover's discount coupon that you can print out and use when you buy it. I did and it came out to be like 104.xx including tax.



If you can though, you might want to look into buying a package online. I've had my PC for about a month now and I just now ordered my polish last week, so hopefully it'll be here tomorrow.
 
Hey, we're all a little cheap at times. But look for the good values...return that Waxxpro (all it will help you do is wax, not polish) and, if you can, look for one of these . I use it all the time, and I like it a lot. Only problem compared to a PC is that the backing plate is not flexible or changable. Don't worry about the OPM...because of the lesser eccentricity the speed range is fine. :2thumbs:

Oh dear god, you're not really trying to start a business are you? If you don't know the difference between a PC and a waxmaster 9000 you have no business applying anything other than soap, wax and armor all to people's vehicles. You scare me, seriously. In response to your other thread, I would say that you definitely need insurance before you start doing this, even as a hobby. I pray that you will reserve your learning experiences for your own vehicle and stick to paste wax on ther cars until then.
 
I am also cheap, but lets not mix up cheapness with buying the proper tool for the job.

As posted, find a Lowes, and find one of those 10% off coupons. Then you can be cheap AND have the right tool for the job. :D

Ahhh. I thought this discussion was about the rotary. Well i got some proof that the rotary works.
 
The PC probably has the best value for the money. You can do a lot with the PC, and later learn how to use a rotary.

Rotaries can be purchased for about half what you will pay for the PC, and most likely will have similar features to the $200+ models out there. By the time the POS rotary I have breaks, for example, I should have enough moolah to buy the Matabo that I really want.
