Hyundai Genesis - Dealership Correction

MirrorDetailing

New member
Customer had his car detailed at a dealership and it did not fair to well for him. Car came out looking pretty bad in sun light. Had the dealership pay to get it fixed and brought it to me for 24 hours. Dropped the car off at my place around 5:30 last night, I started on it off and on until 8:30 then really dove into it. Worked on it till about 3am and called it quits. Got up this morning around 9 and finished the odds and ends left on it. These things must have bass boat paint though with the amount of factory flake in them.

Car looks great! Nice work! It definitely has a lot of flake! Reminds me of the 300C Barry did a while back. ;)

Nice and only with m205 on an orange pad. Must of been pretty soft. Usually people use m105 with orange and follow up with m205 on white.. I'm pretty impressed m205 did A good job and saved you some time.

How good is the factory paint on those cars? I have done a lot of cars, but almost never Hyundai/Kia products.

mini1- Not to hijack the thread here machNU, but I detailed a Kia last week and was quite impressed with the finish of the paint, it was also a very high flake paintjob. I am very unimpressed with Honda's, which I clean daily and have seen a bunch of dust nibs in the paint on multiple cars, not sure what thats all about (maybe i would see the same thing if I cleaned Kias every day).

Great job on the deatail, those new Genesi' are sweet!!!

Looks terrific! :)

I'm guessing the paint was somewhat soft since you got such excellent correction using #205 and a DA. Good to know for future reference.

Yeah I tested it with a White LC Pad and 205 and got roughly 90% correction, so I kicked it up to the Orange Pad and got all the correction I needed. I probably did not need to do the Super Finish, but with the amount of flake in the paint I wanted to make sure it wasnt just making it real hard to see micromarring.

The paint job was actually very nice. The orange peel on the sides was not near as bad as most other brands of cars.

The one pic looks like you sprinkled metal flakes on the paint. That sucker is popping.

Not the first to say that lol.

Yeah this paint was by far much softer than honda paint. Might just be the newer models but this paint corrected nicely.
