Humorous Thread

Funny thing. My best friend is in the Navy and when he's on the ship he's in charge of maintenance. He told me about this product that they use on the radar, glass, and painted material. He says it's awesome. Nothing sticks to the radar protective glass with it on and it doesn't allow it to get scratched. And it's fully transparent. They use it on the planes also. He was suppose to grab me some, but some family stuff was on his mind and never thought of it. I'm not a dumb a#$ and making this up. He might have something. He said it's like a polish, cleaner and protectant in one. He says it makes it ulta shiny, no water spots, and no dirt can stick. The next time I talk to him I'll remind him to get me some.

PPS? polariser solution? never wax again? Sounds like re-bottled 5 star shine/toughguard etc. And I remember that a big part of the sales pitch for 5 star was its used on the US navy radars etc.

Quote: Sorry jack4954 - you obviously know nothing about car paint. Nice sales pitch and it might even be worth a try but, use at your own risk.

Never wax again â€â€œ bull EOQ ZAM70E

A bright light emerges.

kompressornsc- There are so many *wrong* things in that thread, I wouldn't even know where to start.

Couldn't agree more, the 'adhesion' theory is 'different' (that's the only positive thing I could say LOL)

My swirls were basically fresh from buffing - not bad at all.

The product "removed" these swirls. As an aside, the Zaino he tested against this miracle product removed these swirls, too.

1) He's not concerned that his polishing left swirls.

2) Zaino doesn't remove swirls.

How did he get bribed so quickly?

What I see is a vendor using a forum to sell product. It's "polyrazzmatazz".

But hey. What do you expect? Small town, no sherrif, these things happen sometimes.

I'd like to see that guy get an Autopian to review his product and shoot his theory with holes. It might be an alright product (I have no idea, but don't know enough to say otherwise), but claims like those are ridiculous. I'd love to see someone like Scottwax take him on. :)

I know what you're saying, zzyyzx, but there's no point to it. It'd be like a Monty Python argument: "I tried your stuff and it doesn't last." "Yes it does!" "And it looks lousy." "No it doesn't!"

I'm an active member on that forum and never even noticed that thread....know why? b/c I never even bother looking at the "detailing" sections in other forums....you can read any of them threads and get quite a chuckle if that's what you're looking for....fact is that MOST people do not know how to properly care for their cars, including show-car owners. When I want to talk detailing I come here. When I want to talk turbos I got there.

I'm sure quite a few of the turbobuick.com members would get quite a few laughs regarding some of your threads here concerning areas they are "experts" in (performance, for example). What I'm trying to say is rather than quote them and make jokes about what they say you should ignore them or try to help them out.

I used to spread my opinions around those forums but gave up trying to convert people to good practices, but I gave up, itâ€â„¢s truly too much work for one man. If anyone is serious about keeping their cars in good shape then they should at least be smart enough to find autopia. I just stay away from those forums now b/c it truly is a shame what most people believe are "good practices" and how hard it is to sell them on something new.

About Zam: I've dealt with Zam before and he's a stand-up guy who knows his stuff. He's done an AMAZING job on his Buick (very tasteful mods and many one of a kind things he came up with that you wonâ€â„¢t see on any other buick), and is probably on of the nicest I've ever seen in pictures(not considering a halogen or direct sunlight view since I haven't seen any). I cannot say whether or not he is in cahoots with that Jack character but the whole thing does seem a little "odd". Either way, if someone wants to spend money on this product then they deserve to get burned, anybody that can truly believe a wax will last forever is foolish and lazy.

In closing, I'd like to say that every automotive detailing forum link should be re-directed to autopia, itâ€â„¢s the ONLY solution. It seems that most of the time people are just sharing bad practices and getting caught up in hype products. Autopia is the place to be for detailing....no if's and's or but's about it!

No reason to get upset because you drive a Buick. I offered my opinion on the subject to try and help them.

The thread was funny and sad at the same time. I don't run my mouth about things I don't know about...that's why they aren't laughing at me.

I'm not upset at all, don't get me wrong...I just think it's sad the things that are passed around as advice in those forums.

I just thought I'd jump in b/c I have a relationship with that forum and have read enough "ridiculous" threads to write a book on how not to care for your car.

Yeah, in fact that Jack guy wrote:

Originally posted by jack4954 (of TurboBuick.com)...I do know that there is another prsn. marketing the product under the name of 5starshine. I'll share w/ you what I know about it. This is the same product. GardGroup private labels for individuals ordering 5K units a month. I think you can purchase the product for $60 or $65 from them, but then they tack on S & H, which I think comes to a little over $75. I am offering it for $85, but I have complete instructions from GardGroup to send along w/ the product, w/ 2 contact #'s, to give individuals all the needed support...
