HUMMER Detailings

Just wanted to share some information about HUMMER detailings.

I have found that in order to do a thorough job, most HUMMER detailings usually take about eight hours to complete. That includes polishing and waxing under the hood and at least two hours of work on the interior alone.

When you consider my hourly rate of fifty dollars per hour, I have been pricing HUMMER detailings at $399.

I'm interested in knowing;
1- how much time do you spend on detailing a HUMMER?
2- what price do you charge?
3- what's included in the detailing?

maybe it wouldnt take so long if you didnt polish and wax under the hood, haha.

I know the hoods hinge from the front, but im not sure if theres really any bodywork under the hood that would need polishing and waxing?

They are big cars though, and the owners typically wouldnt even give a second thought to throwing out $400 for a detail....id say your price is fine.

Hmm, it would take me about 10-12 hours. I would say between $300 (for a clean silver non-chromed one) and $450 (for a black one with chrome package).

Since the hood on a HUMMER is hinged from the front you'll notice that there are painted surface gaps between the hood and the windshield wiper cowling.

In order to clean, polish and wax these painted surfaces, you have to open the hood. Once you've got the hood open you will find more painted surfaces. In order to do the job right, it is very important to make sure that all painted surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, polished and waxed. It's all part of doing the job right. Especially at these prices.

Good thread I have a hummer coming up in the bext week and I'm not looking forward to the work. I guess its going to be a money making day!

Detailing a HUMMER is a lot like detailing an oversized toy Tonka Truck. It's a lot of fun and a lot of work at the same time. It's the kind of detailing job that you tend to get lost in. You actually begin to lose track of time. I usually start early in the AM and get the outside completely finished, take a lunch break and then tackle the interior. You've really got to love detailing to do these HUMMERS. Especially at these prices.

H2 and H1 paint sucks.......I try to avoid detailing them if possible.

I have one client with an H2 and he pays me a monthly fee to wash and wax it.
