Hello all ive got this Huge scratch on the front fender of my truck and who knows how the heck it got there but its there and i dont like it..

My plan is the norm: to fill it with touch up paint and let dry, then wetsand over it and polish it out..

My question is this.. will i need to fill the scratch with anything other than paint since its down to the metal??

whenever we painted a bare metal surface we always used etch primer first, then primer, then bc, and cc. But damn how'd you do that? lol and it looks uber orange peely. It could eventually rust just make sure it's properly cleaned and it should be okay... wash then wax n grease remover.

I've had good luck using rust converters for the primer. For something that size, IMO you'll need to get some very small artist's brushes. I have a scad of them in sizes from 00 ("double-oh") through 20X0 ("twenty-oh") and IMO they were worth every penny.

What I'm doing on the M3's bad scratches:

Rust converter if down to metal; fill scratch with basecoat, let dry; Langka blob-remover to remove excess paint from around scratch and also a little from *in* the scratch; clear, applied ub a few coats to fill the scratch back up and go over onto the surrounding paint just a little bit, let dry; wetsand, compound, polish.

ya thats OEM GM arrival blue. Its full of orange peel thats for sure..and honestly we have no clue how the scratch got there. The truck is not driven much sits in front of the house so were thinking idiot kids keyed it! i dunno!:angry

ya i cleaned it all out and threw a coat of sealer on it until i have the time to tackle it!

ACCUMULATOR... thanks for the process much appreciated..Do u use the full langka kit?

Nah, just the blob remover. I bought it just to see how it works and was pleasantly surprised. It's not the miracle-worker the ad copy makes it out to be, but I still like using it more than I ever expected I would.
