Huge props to Angelo

Whats the difference? I have been told that the Finesse-it II 051131-05928 is better than 3m SMR 39009, it removes more swirls and leaves the finish smoother.

Whats the verdict, Ya or Na?

Bill;)

3M Finesse-It is more abrasive, meaning it will get the more severe swirls out that 3M SMR won't get. Usually after 3M Finesse-It 2, you'll usually want to go over it with SMR.

You never want to use a more aggressive product than needed for the job, and the FI-II is more aggressive than the SMR. On the other hand, BOTH have diminishing abrasives and if you work FI-II long enough you can end up with a pretty darn good finish. BETTER than SMR? I don't think so - but last time I used it I didn't feel I had to FOLLOW it with SMR. (The first time I used it I had so much haze I put it on the shelf and didn't touch it again for months!)

I do not believe it is humanly possible to work it enough, having experienced how much it takes with the orbital at full tilt, to get to the full polishing potential of FI-II by hand. Your arm would fall off in one panel or less.

I can tell you from personal experience with a PC that FI2 will remove the scratches the SMR can't but leaves its own swirl marks........forcing you to use SMR as a follow on.

Definitely use the SMR first and work it hard with a PC. If you still see scratches then go to the FI2 but try it by hand first, just to see what will happen. With some hard paints the hand application won't do a thing but it might work on softer paints.

If you don't get results with the FI2 by hand you gotta go to the machine. Deal with the swirls later.

Of course, YMMV.

After doing this for so many years you get a feel for what kind of scrath your facing, what product to use and "how" to use that product. I typically use FI first because I am comfortable controlling the cutting action and unless the car is a tricky color like red or darks, usually do not follow up with anything. Your rubbing pressure and pad composition is key.

I'd just like to take a few minutes to thank Angelo on his exceptional customer service. I had ordered a new 4 inch backing plate on amazon which acts as a third party retailer to stores like PAC. Angelo gave me a call to let me know that I could save a few bucks by ordering straight through PAC. I only needed one item so amazon suited my needs at that time but I doubt the good folks at Amazon have someone as tapped into their clients as Angelo.

I also have been meaning to try some low profile pads so I will be adding them to my order.

I just really don't see how you can beat that type service.

Thanks Angelo!

angelo has done some wonderful things for me through my dealings with PAC and i have been using them for about 4 years for all my detailing needs. he's a great asset to a great business... thank you angelo

Angelo rocks! A year ago February my new jar of BF Midnight Sun wax slid of the BFWD coated roof of my car - onto the concrete floor - and broke. I removed 1/8" of wax from the area that actually contacted the floor and the rest was OK, but the jar was a lost cause.

Angelo to the rescue! He sent me a new empty jar, at no charge! I offered to pay the postage (after all it WAS my fault) but he wouldn't hear of it.

That's customer service. So while I couldn't pay Angelo back, I have recruited two new customers for PAC (it's the least I could do).

Regards,
GEWB

Angelo is the only person who remembers this lonely Detailer way out here in the Northwest, and has called me on occasion to make sure my needs are being met by Classic Motoring Accessories.

He has always taken the time to either call me or talk to me when I call him; never once worrying about the 3-hour time difference.

Angelo knows the business really, really well, and because of this, he has exceptional "street credibility".

Thanks Angelo, for all that you do for me - for all of us !!!
