How would you price packages for a Car meet?

A friend of mine was asking if I would detail for a Nissan and Infinity car meet, and was asking what packages and pricing I would have available for these meets. I started the preliminary price sheets and I think I have an idea of how I want to setup the packages, but my question to you is this:

How would you setup your packages and prices for events such as these? how much of what would you discount if any?

Logistically, since those who attend car meets are more interested in putting their money into mods, rather than details, I don't imagine I will be breaking out my Flex much, I decided to leave 4 slots for each meet just in case--foolish? (I mean I figure at most will a D301 once over and LSP for good measure)

Hopefully your wisdom will set me in the right direction.

thanks guys.

How many cars do you figure on doing, and how long is the event you'll be at? If you can determine how much time you'll have per car, that will dictate what services you can realistically even offer in that sort of situation.

Of course, access to water and power is another consideration you'll have to take into account.

less is more. Forget the polisher. focus on wash, wax and vacuuming. If you can afford it, bring someone to help-you'll move through things so much faster. Consider that the cars are probably coming from far and wide and will be dirty in transit. Why use the hotel hose when there is a pro detailer on the spot? Have a sign up sheet with 30 minute slots listed so that people will know when they can expect their car to be done.

You are going to want to only wash and wax the vehicles and vaccum/wipe down the interior. Get someone you trust to help you out some when your working on the exterior of the car they can knock out the interior. Bring your DA to speed up the waxing process and by the time your done appling the wax you and your helper can start removing the wax.

With a helper the car should take no longer then an hour.

Also you know the minute one person gets there car detailed and it looks good everyone else it going to jump on the band waggon.

I would charge between $50-$70 for the wash/wax depending on the size of the vehicle nad how dirty it is. Pay your helper $10 an hour which leaves you about $40 an hour for yourself.

Thanks for the advice guys! As it stands I was thinking along the same lines.

The washes are easy--and for waxes I was thinking about the collinites, and souveran (gotta at least make a dent in my stash somehow) but I was also thinking maybe I get Meg's UQW for the sake of time?

I think I'll have 2 others on crew with me as this is less about getting rich as it is getting my foot in the door--so I want to make sure things get done. (I heard mention that one or more people coming may be managers of dealerships).

I would've thought applying by machine might take longer given the products I have...it's faster?

apply by hand for sure, a machine makes it even, but all the stopping/applying/restarting makes for longer application times. Keep the Souveran on the shelf man, last thing you want is someone's never-been-clayed car's crap getting in your pinnicle wax pad (and you will find that in more cases than not).

Also-there was a slick way I made the event more rewarding/fun for the customers. Do a give away of some sort, charge $1 or $5 or whatever and make a first prize of you doing a full fledged show quality detail, then a 2nd prize of some products of your choice (contact some of the distributors and see if you can get samples of stuff for cheap and toss in a few MF's). You'll get a TON more foot traffic this way and whatever you charge just helps pay for things. Figure if you sell 50 raffle tickets @ 5, thats $250 you made just b/c you showed up.

hehe already got that covered xD i'm putting a small portion in a separate container to avoid contamination (no sense in wasting any of my products)

Any Idea on what products you'd use? I was inclined to use some kind of APC with ONR only because I have a feeling that the cars would have a bunch of bonded contaminants(praying that this may help?)

I don't really feel like using my higher priced stuff like CG and my TAW, but concerned the wash n wax wont put much of a dent in terms of cleaning....

This is tough...it really depends on the caliber of cars and customers your dealing with. I know here in georgia, it takes me twice as much effort to make an individual sale than in a group effort.. When doing a meet it's very important that it's in development for some time so that people know what to expect from the event and how much money they should bring. It really just revolves on how good you are and how much your willing to give for potential customers. I recently did a dyno day at a Nissan Z performance shop, which is primarily a car event and I offered one of two packages. $60 clay, polish, wax and wash and a $20 wash and liquid wax. I sold NO $20 packages. We did about 5 or 6 cars that day..(one of two detailers) I used detail addicts polish and pads that day, which I consider good quality products. I had to compensate for the fact that there wouldn't be alot of interest in detailing at a car event. so the price was spot on with what I thought someone would pay for a great detail if they were interested, and it was enough to justify doing the event. We offered alot though, so it really depends on what you want to do. Granted..with this event the typical price range on the cars were 35-50k. Depends on if your more of a car washer or a buffer. :/
