How would I remove asphalt from a finish?

See other thread ( http://autopia.org/forum/profession...-detail-6-big-dump-trucks-need-some-help.html ) for background info. I just found out that the reason that the asphalt company is paying me to wash these trucks is that they dropped liquid asphalt on the beds. I havent seen them yet, but the owner says it isnt real bad, just needs cleaning. Would something like tar remover work? Gas or Diesel fuel? What else could I get to do this. I normally would not take something on of this magnetude and complexity, but I get to charge whatever I feel like, I am thinking $200 a truck for this.

Don't use gasoline. Too volatile, and just an errant spark from static electricity will cause it to flash and ruin your whole day. :sosad

Diesel fuel is often used as an asphalt slip agent. There are other alternatives, such as soy release. If you get in a pinch, email or pm me. I have some other alternatives. Give me a good description as to what your up against and I can recommend something. Ive worked with Asphalt quite a bit.

The liquid asphalt your referring to is called slurry seal, its actually water soluable until the componants set, then, well, then its a B****.

Four Star Power Punch really dissolves tar good. However, if it is something like a 55 gallon drum spilled on it you might want to try something else. LOL

I looked at it today, it's just a little tar that leaked out of the filling hopper onto the hood. I got some localy made tar remover this afternoon.

Thanks for the help, pics coming soon!

Exactly..truckers who hall hot asphalt would use Diesel Fuel in the dump in order to keep asphalt from sticking..
