How to tackle mold???

Got a call from a customer that wants an interior recondition service for his 65 jaguar. He said that mold was growing on the seats. Any advice please?

Is it just on the seats? Was it in storage? Chances are, the mold is more than on the seats. Possibly under the carpet as well if the vehicle was damp and closed up for a while.

I would think this could be a good candidate for steam cleaning and/or use of an ozone generator to kill the mold and remove the odor....

Upholstery- Leather Master's Mould (Mold) Remover (N-Nubuck / Alcantara®) (A-Aniline / Non-Coated) (P-Protected / Coated) you don't have to live near the coast to experience mould or mildew fungus spores on your leather. It can also occur during hot, humid weather in non-coastal areas. Fungus growth is also a concern for garaged vehicles; you may notice dark or white blotches where two areas of the leather touch or areas not used. If the contamination is not removed, the fungus will dissolve the leather, forming small pits.

Just like mould and mildew contamination in other areas, you cannot wash or shampoo it away. This only exasperates the problem. The fungus is caused by living organisms that must be killed before the leather is cleaned. This product is effective on most forms of bacterial or fungus growth.

Carpets, Mats and Fabric and Vinyl covered upholstery Microban Mildew & Mold Remover is an environmentally-safe, anti-microbial formula that destroys mould, mildew, and other bacterial odours on contact. When you cannot use chlorine, Microban is a very effective solution. The formula is a water-based, non-flammable bactericide, fungicide, deodorant and anti-microbial, all in one formulation

Application - do not dilute, use full strength, apply via sprayer to porous surfaces until moist, no not over wet, brush into carpeting, allow to dry 10-20 minutes

Due to VOC Regulations Microban cannot ship to California.

Caution- use respiratory protection and gloves as the spores constitute a health hazard causing allergic reactions and respiratory problems as some moulds cause disease

If you have mold on the seats you have mold in lots of places on the cars interior. Leathique is one of the sites that I would recommend you check for leather care and conditioning.

Micro-ban is also a great product and it will do the trick. I would add $50.00 to the delivered price for starters on the gallon. Mold is funny stuff and you need to kill the spores at the source. Use a proven product and go from there.
