How to steer a rotary?

I like to refer back to my Megs How to remove Paint Defects video for this but it never really shows a clear shot how they steer the rotary.

My original thinking with the Makita 9227c, you would control it with the overhead handle, hence it's design and my thinking. After reading the veed's Rotary usuage thread I learned it is better to steer with butt end of the rotary as opposed to the head handle. Because if you do, then it will instill holograms. Am I right on any of this?? Thanks,,,,,,,AR

I find that when doing vertical panels I must use my offhand(in my case my left) and hold the head of the machine for support and just allowing the rotary to pull me along produces the best results. I also find that "wetter" products are much easier to buff with.

If you use your hand on the head handle to move or steer, you may alter the pressure variable thus, holograms and swirls. So it's safe that you control with your trigger hand.
