Just that. I have 3 month old polish from a previous detailer left in EVERY CRACK AND CREVICE......

Now i'm detailing myself, and this is bugging the heck out of me.

I'm going to try my pad cleaner from pnnacle now...but is there a better/different way?

ok..that worked fairly well on most of it.

Is there anything else STRONGER and BETTER at removing super old, super crappy polish?

There are sections(under hood and in some crevices) that the clear did not cover. Those sections are hard to get to, and the polish wont come out with just alcohol because the surface is too porous...

suggestions please?

I haven't tried it personally but how about one of those Mr. Clean eraser pads. They're good for getting black scuff marks off the bottom of door panels so should make quick work on old polish residue.

For hard to reach areas, I'd even try cutting one into bits and glueing (Gorilla Glue) the bits onto a thin stick. I know this sounds fussy, but those little polish bits drive me crazy too and are worth the effort.
