How to remove old cracked pinstriping

I spoke with a potential client yesterday. He is a lawyer at one of the bigger local firms so I am hoping to land him permanently as well as his friends. He wants me to work on his sons Toyota 4 runner black. He is going to decide whether or not he wants me to remove the old pinstriping or not today and call me.

I haven't yet had anyone request pinstripe removal. What I have on hand is Naptha and 3m adhesive removal spray. Is this sufficient or do I need some plastic razors. Sorry for the newbie question.

Any help is appreciated. I have him scheduled for next sat / sun. He wants a full correction + engine + and interior detail.

Thanks for the quick reply Rasky. I just got off the phone with him. He wants me to remove the pinstriping and detail the truck. Then he said depending on if he likes the look or if his son does he may have it reapplied at the dealer.

This of course makes me begin to think about whether or not learning to reapply pinstriping would be a good upsell tradeskill.

One of the reasons that pinstripping went out of style is that you can't get paint anymore that will last.

?

Also thanks for this topic OP and for the replies in it. Going to remove the ones on my vehicle since I see no point in having such a ugly black line on the side of my car.

Yeah TedFred, that made no sense. Did you mean you can't find pin striping that will last ?

As for removing it, Goo Gone would work.

You can get most of it off with one of those 3M wheels, but I have seen vehicles with some sort of crazy etching behind the striping. I did a van and it was a MESS behind the striping/graphics.
