You can buy special mitts or brushes at Walmart, some auto stores, or pet stores specific for pet hair. They are kind of barbed like a cat's tongue ... sort of like a lint brush. Almost feel like Velcro.
For heavy pet hair, I use one of these to remove most of the hair and then finish with a thorough vacuuming.
Try using a 3M Lint Roller (after you have gotten up the bulk hair with a dog hair brush). You can purchase them at Costco and/or Sam's in a 6-Pack. This combo worked well for me when detailing the cargo area of BMW X5. I hope that this helps.
I've tried all of the gagets through the years and have always gone back to the damp cloth method. It's always worked on cars and boats. On really dry days a spritz of Static Guard helps to lift the hair. Let me know if you need further explanation.
