How to polish plastic cladding on Jeep?

My in-laws have a black 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the ribbed plastic body cladding on the sides. How do you machine polish those? Is there a trick or technique, or do you just have to work you way in with the edge of the pad?

Yeah, pretty tough by machine, or by any way for that matter. You can try working the edge of the pad like you said, but watch out for edges.

I wouldn't machine polish any colored plastic cladding. Wash it and use some Tropicare non-silicone tire and trim dressing.

I re-read my original post, I see that I wasn't that clear. The molding I'm talking about is indeed painted, I believe it to be plastic underneath, but it is painted to match the vehicle.

Ya i had to reread that a couple times. If it has to be done, as stated, not easy, I would only use final polish with a well lubed finishing pad. Anything more and it could become expensive or time consuming.

You can machine polish unpainteds, just dont use abrasives

use some non abrasive polishes brodey
