well if anyone has any other ideas or ideas to improve on what i did, this is what i did to make a pad template so i could mark all my pads so centering on the rotary would be easier.

- first take the pad and trace it on a piece of paper then cut it out.

- fold it in half and mark the center.

- the circle in my 6" LC backing plate measures 7/8" so from the center point i measured out 7/16"

- after this i unfolded it and took a the pad centering defive and lined it up with the 2 marks done in the previous step. put the pad centering device on the mark and traced around it.

- fold the paper in half again.

- then cut out the hole

- with the hole cut out try to eyeball it perfectly over the hole on the backing plate.

- flip the BP over carefully so you dont move the template, then tape it down with some painters tape and test it out on the rotary to make sure everything is centered.

- once you see the paper is centered trace the BP and make another circle.

- take of the template and put it over the pad and make a mark of the center of the pad

- fold the paper in half again and cut out the BP circle you traced earlier

- with the hole that you traced on the pad line up the hole on the template

IMG_1071.jpg

- now mark the outside of the template with dots first just incase there is an error and test again with the pad on the rotary.

IMG_1072.jpg

- once the pad is finally centered perfectly put the template back on and trace the final circle

now you have a guide to line up the BP perfectly everytime.

this doesnt take too long, but for me im just anal at getting the pad centered and this 10 minute step probably will save me a LOT of time later when it comes to changing pads.

again if anyone has other ideas please feel free to add.

I have a mark on my backing plate as well, but use a metal conduit to center it when the pad goes on. Works every time.

I have some 8 inch pads with holes in the center. I simply put a smaller pad inside the larger pad and used a Sharpie and marked the center. I cut it out with a penknife.

I did that with my 5" pads. But i just eyeballed the thing while it was on the rotary, then traced with silver sharpie. The ink is starting to wear out though.

What sucks about that, is i'd need to do that like 2-3 times.

I have white LC flat pads that the velcro backing cuts short about 1/4" from the edge of the pad. But then again my LC CCS White pad like yours has the backing all the way out the edge.

Def. a good idea when I get time.:D
