How to clean BMW peach fuzz?

I have 2 BMWs - a '93 and an '03 - that have a trim strip of short fuzzy material around the door opening, just inside the weatherstrip. It is black on my cars, maybe on all cars,



This stuff looks like peach fuzz, and it acts like a lint brush - it collects every bit of lint off your clothes as you get into and out of the car, even pulls lint off MF towels when you try to wipe an adjacent surface, and is very tough to clean.



Anybody have any experience with a good way to clean this stuff?

I have that fuzz around the sunroof opening on my BMW, and that is the only place that I have a lot of lint problems from washing/drying. I wet my finger and rub it along the surface and the lint will just come off/ball up. You can also use a wet terry towel. Don't just scrub back and forth, but wipe with your finger behind the contact patch in one direction.
 
Ah, I know exactly what you're talking about. That stuff seems tough to clean. I am up for suggestions as well. (My peach fuzz is black and lines the sunroof).
 
I hate that stuff. It was on 3 of the BMW's that I just did. I would be cleaning the interior with a MF and the towel would hit it and all the lint from the towel would go all over the fuzz.



I have to try the tip with a wet finger or cloth towel :)
 
I would try taking some masking tape and dab at the "fuzzed" trim to remove the lint. I have had success with doing this in the past.
 
I have that around my Charger windows, and it lints up really fast. I tried a stiff toothbrush, didn't work too good. Dabbing masking tape has worked best so far, but it's kind of tedious.
 
Wouldn't a regular lint brush work OR something like this rubber tipped extractor that Meguiar's sells

You would have to be pretty careful with that brush, on the sunroof at least the "fuzz" is almost flush with paint, and probably less than a half inch thick. I use my finger too, just lick it and give it a swipe. :)
 
I "de-fuzz" at least 2 Bimmers per week for the shop!



At first, I used a piece of duct tape, but found a better solution: One of those lint rollers for clothes. Works great, is cheap, and does a great job on the rear window tray.
