How to apply Collinite 845

I have good luck applying it by hand and a foam applicator.

If it's warm it should haze quickly so maybe do 2 panels and then buff off. On cooler/rainy days I'll do a half a vehicle and then buff.

I suppose it would work well via PC and finishing pad as a little goes a long way and it's best applied as thin as possible.

You've got to shake the heck out of the bottle go get it to turn to a thin liquid first.

I have used both methods of applying it and I greatly prefer machine application. Spreads further that way, IMO, and leaves a thinner coat.

The cure time is about 24 hours (not an exact number) if you're looking to get durability out of multiple layers of collinite.

Applying with a black finishing pad is a pretty good idea.

Just make sure to shake it up long enough; it'll get *really* thin when it's properly shaken. You might still have a plug of gel-like wax in the neck of the bottle- if so, push it down into the rest of the wax and shake some more.

I apply to the whole vehicle and then start buffing it off. No worries about it setting up "too long".

Oh, and I like speed ~4 with 6-6.5" pads and maybe ~3 with smaller ones.

Yeah, over 80F it is very liquidy, under 70F and it is pretty thick. Shake until it slushes around.

If your in a hurry PC time is no object foam applicator. The PC is just for speed since 845 has no cutting properties.

Sorry about the resurrection after 3 years but I am using this today and it will only be 55 degrees or so and I wanted to see if you folks could help me out.

I will be applying by hand in the shade after polishing.

Should I do the whole car and then buff off or play it safe and go panel by panel?

Everyone seems to say to apply thin, which I can do I am sure, but do I apply it in sweeping back and forth motion, and buff off in a circle? Or apply it back and forth and buff off back and forth?

Thanks for your input.-Mike

845 is one of the most user friendly waxes, there is no need to overthink its application. Shake till its thin as milk, yes milk. Apply thin by machine or hand, buff off whenever.

It's been a while since I last used 845, but I always waxed the entire car first, by which time the wax had hazed on the first panels. I would then proceed to buff off. My impression is that 845 needs to dry properly before it is removed. It's not a wipe-on/wipe-off product. Perhaps you can safely remove it before it has hazed, without suffering streaking problems; but given that it's an easy product to remove after it has dried, I always waited to allow it to properly set up. I would think that doing so would also maximize its durability. Remember that the lower the temperature, the longer it may take for the 845 to haze. Do the swipe test.

I'm sure that more experienced 845 users will quickly chime in and share their experience.
