I gotta Tree Story(actually I have 2 Tree stories)
Last August I had a tree that was probally 45ft tall and it leaned over my Den.
Every time we had a good wind it would freak me out to sit in the den......So I finally decided tha tree's gotta go...I called two companys from the yellow pages out,they both sent guys out to give an estimate.Both were dressed way to good. I knew they were gonna want of small fortune. One of there est. was $2,800 the other was $3,600.They were both gonna bring a crane...
Well I let a few days go by to think about my situation.I started to look in the local paper and found a guy whose ad caught my eye---Cheap tree work/Insured
Well the guy shows up in a late 80's crew cab that has definetley seen its best days, plus he looked like he hadn't showered in days...he quotes me $800 if I will do it that coming weekend.....I called his insurance agent and sure enough he had a 1,000,000 policy. So I said lets go for it...
So saturday comes and he said he would be there at 9:00a.m. He comes rollin down street at noon:30 followed by one of the biggest monster trucks I've ever seen on city streets(it also has dents in every corner)Suddenelly there are 3 of the roughest lookin characters I have ever had the displeasure of lookin at(And I.ve seen some rough folks in my time)
They are eyeballing my tree and kinda whispering to each other...They then get the 4-whl drive in position
at this point I asked:Where is tha crane?....He looks at me spits out some tobaco and quotes:Crane....I don't need no stinkin Crane
Anyway they did simalar work to what is posted above...Threw a rope up to one of the top branches and the other end of rope to 4x4. He made a cut about 3ft from the ground, and then instucted the 4x4 driver to "PUNCH IT".......The tree landed right where he said it would.
He then got into the 4x4 and continued to do jumps over the tree to break it down to size. Then 2 of them each got a chain saw while the other 1 worked on the stump
3:30 they are heading back to Missisippi with $800 in there pocket and I saved $2,000 :rockon
Tree story #2 will have to wait for another time.
