How often are we supposed to clay?

I clayed my first car today. It worked really well. Unfortunately, I ran out of daylight so I didn't get into the detailing with the PC that I wanted. However, I wanted to protect the paint as much as possible until when I have time to work on it again.

So after washing, claying, I put on DG AW on the entire car. Is that good enough for a week or so? Or do I need to wash and clay again in a week before starting to PC?

I have not clayed my 3 since last fall. Its definately due, but I think you can prolong the interval with washing every 5 or so days.

I only clay mine once a year. Regarding your question you can clay your car anytime you want but you must remember that when you clay, you actually removed not just road contaminants but also the wax or sealant you put on your car. It's like you're starting over again when claying a vehicle.

Yes, AW should be good enough for week or more maybe. Sorry can't speak with AW since I've not used these product before. Heard a lot of good stuff about these product in here. Not sure how long will it keep your car protected. But, IMO the way you can tell that is when you're washing your car and run water in your car, you should see water beading. If you see less water beading, in my own experience, it means your wax is going away and these is when I start to put on another layer of wax.

Before you start with your PC, I would just wash it. No need to clay it again. Goodluck.[

You may never need to clay... feel the paint surface to decide, nothing to do with how long a period of time. Is it rough or smooth? that's what you should be asking yourself.

I spot-clay as needed with every wash, been doing so since the early '90s. I'd rather wash *very* gently and remove tenacious stuff with clay than "scrub" or otherwise wash more aggressively.
