I have to do a Kemworth 6 wheel truck I dont know what you call them, like a big rig type style. He is taking off the container from the back so ill be taking care of the fuel tanks, polishing the 6 wheels and doing the paint work buff and seal, also the inside of the cab. It is in really good shape and is only a couple years old, i just dont know how much to charge?

Oh man, thats a toughie. I'd guess about 600 bucks (20 hours @30/hour). I figure 1.5 hours to wash, 6-8 hours to buff and seal, 4 for interior, 2 to polish rims, 2 to polish tanks, and a coupla extra hours for odds and ends. Hope you've got a rotary, and for the tanks/etc, I'd look into the stuff that Airstream trailer owners use. Top of the line carries it. Even if its in good shape, it won't go quick. You still have to go over every last inch of it, even if you only have to go over it lightly. Plus, you'll want to polish any other chrome accessories, like pipes, steps, etc, and that all takes time. The product costs of such a job arent gonna be cheap either.

I say you'll end up using at least 1/4 gallon of polish...gallon of dressing...lots of compound ect. It all adds up. Good luck.

Make sure you dont undercharge. I used to drive one of those big trucks and 40-75 bucks is standard around the country for a straight wash with power washers only. Remember most of those trucks are worth between $120,000.00 and $180,000.00 a good detail is only protecting thier investment!

Hey guys thanks for the help so far. This shouldn't take us 20 hours at most 9-10 it isnt THAT big. Im thinking 480-500 seems fair for the work being done. If it took 20 hours even at $600 it woulnd't be worth it to detail this truck when we could do two large suv's for $300 and only take 5-6 hours each. So what do you guys think of that price with lets say 9-10 hours? I highly doubt it would take 20 hours...we might be lazy but we arent that slow :)

Sounds like a cab only no sleeper truck . The interior wont take you that long maybe 30 mins. There probably isn't any carpet in it. I would use a one step product (Polish/Wax or Polish/ Sealant) on the paint , that way you'll save time. Polishing the chrome and aluminum will take the longest . Charge by the hour that way its fair for the both of you .
