How much should a DETAIL COST?

Hello My fellow Enthusists. I want to detail my car, Basically get it in top notch shape. I have never taken my car to a detailer before and I want to make sure i don't get ripped off. How much should i be looking to spend. IF i tell him i want' scratches and swirls removed. IS is possible he or she can do that? I want it to loook like this.. :bounce Thanks.
 
Well I guess it depends on several thjings. What type of car, what type of condition (swirls?), color, year.

Im detailing (exterior only) a 06 977 Carrera today with light swirls for around $200.00.

Small, and in decent shape, above average swirls, dark silver flake, about 3 hrs of work I would imagine....

If it was a Suburban, add another $75.00-$80.00...

Also, I should add that you should shop for a detailer with firstly looking for quality work and price second. There could be a detail shop around you that will charge $99.99 for a Super D-Duper Detail but will induce swirls (even more than you originally had), miss spots, poor window cleaning, etc. On the other hand there could be a detailer somewhere near you that charges ALOT, but does the best work you've ever seen and will give you your money's worth.
