How much can a car's paint take before it's gone?

Theoretically, how many times can you use, say, a pre-wax cleaner like Meguiar's Deep Crystal Cleaner before the paint is stripped away? You guys know what I'm getting to here....is too much of this detailing routine gonna produce unfortunate results in the long run?

I know it seems like a stupid question, but I'm being realistic. thanks. :)

It's not a stupid question at all.

If you stick with "cleaners" and stay away from harsh compounds, I doubt you will ever damage the paint. One clear-coated van I had was polished and waxed at for 14 years. It looked great the day I sold it. A single stage lacquer car has been polished on for 15 years that I have had it. Other than the typical lacquer crazing or cracking, the paint is in good shape. From 6' away it looks new.

With any luck, maybe you can get a new car sometime in the next 15 years.

Polish away, just be sure to use good, mild products. AIO, SEC are two I use. There are many others, I'm sure.

:bigups Thanks. So I guess I'm good to go. You know, I need to shore up on those acronyms. I've been learning from that link from the home page, but i just keep forgetting them :wall.
