All,

I know mileage will vary but how many uses can one expect from 1 clay bar? When do you know it's had it?

TIA

Generally speaking, 4-5 applications . . . depending on the level of contamination of course. Use your best judgment. Save old clay for cleaning wheels. Good luck ;)

Rather than reuse it, I tear off fairly small pieces- use them and the relegate to wheel duty. I think of clay as a renewable resource, unlike paint, so I don't mind going through a lot of it. I don't want to risk a piece of abrasive contamination working its way back to scratch my paint. And I don't want to trash the whole bar if I drop it :o

If you fold the contaminated side in towards itself (rather than kneading it), you can fold it 23 times before exposing the first contaminants.

There is actually a topological equation for this.

I cut each bar in half then use it, I get about 3-4 uses out of it on my already clean car. A car that has never been clayed will greatly reduce the life.
