How many people here use S100 on sliver?

I have currently been using the old Zaino for a couple years. Currently I use it on my 2001 Reflex Silver VW GTI. As many people know, Zaino gives a nice pop to silver. My only beef is that I can only really appreciate the car at certain times of the day, sun rise and sun set are the best. You can really see the silver "glow" with Zaino. At almost all other times the paint just seems really clean.

I have read a lot about S100 and finally went out and bought some. I did an experiment with my wife's black ML 430. I did the hood with clay, SMR, SEPC and S100 and was pretty pleased with the results and the ease of use. I would like to try it on the GTI if the results are good with silver. I like Zaino's durability, but what I don't like is having to clay the car, then wash, the polish the car, then wash, the Zaino. It is very appealing to clay, wash, SMR, SEPC and wax.

How do the silver car guys like S100 on their paint?

S100 looks incredible on silver.

You can't really judge looks by pictures. These pictures are so compressed and it is really easy to make any product look good with photographs.

Ronin, you could try putting on 2 coats of S100 as a topper to your Zaino on half the car and compare the look to Zaino alone and judge for yourself.

You will probably be happy either route you take but you will certainly lose durability using S100.

 Care to look at the original prints? I've got them and the negatives. Any picture I post is exactly the way it looked to me through the viewfinder and frankly, I am getting real sick of these snide comments in practically every thread I and others post pics.

Those cars look awesome. Scott, can I wear your "#1 Autopian" sash?

RIC, I don't understand where you think the pictures "look better then the could be." If anything, a car looks better in person.

Scott,

I agree with ya here. I have had some e-mails that in a round about way suggest doctoring of photos. Pure hogwash!

I would never do so because if ever found out the backlash would do me in not to mention the embarrassment. By the way Scott, beautiful work in those pictures! I am sure you have had to deal with the same scorching heat up in your area as I have had to deal with down here.

I just about passed out the other day when it hit 110 with the heat index. Looks like we migt get some relief this week though.

I don't mean for this to high-jack the thread so I will comment on the topic. I prefer S100/P21S on silver because of its reflective qualities. I am not a huge fan of Zaino so I can't really compare the two, although I have Zaino stuff but have shelved it.

BTW, the Porsche and the S2000 belong to Autopia members and I am sure if I was not correctly representing my work that I did on their cars, they would be the first to say so.

Gotta agree on S100 and silver! [/B]

AHHHHHH....that's what I wanted to hear. It is time for the GTI's bi-annual polish so I really didn't want to go through all the Zaino steps after polishing if I am going to try something new. :)

S100 here also...Mostly just as a topper....Im pretty much a polymer man.....

Scott/Anthony, give the guy a break its not like his statement is false anyway, I dont think it was directed expressly at you,

it is really easy to make any product look good with photographs.
...more as a general statement. This topic has been covered more than enough and will continue to be brought up in the future.....Scott, to those who have been here for some time, its no secret your a wiz with a camera, I'd like to see something other than a car ! I love photography but havent mastered your level of experience.....

Sure seems lately that posts like that follow pics I've posted.

How about a picture of my pet?

The picture is enlarged about 10% more than actual size to show more detail and the flash caused her 'rose' colored hair to be brighter.

:xyxthumbs S100 is awesome! love it, i recently bought some Pinn Paste Glaz which is for light colored cars, i like it just as much if not better than S100, for a recent show i clayed #7 S100 then topped with PPG, very impressed with shine!

I am not at all suggesting doctoring of prints/photos.

All I am saying is that you can't judge a wax by a photo alone.

Scottwax, can you post some pics of a freshly waxed/polished vehicle that look bad because of the product used?

I doubt it...I am sure you get great looking photos on any car you polish/wax regardless of the product used.

I take it by the words "these pictures" and the fact I was only person to that point that had posted any pictures that I was either processing the pics (by compression, which actually can make a picture look worse) or that I am using certain angles to highlight the shine in a way that would not accurately represent actual results. If that is not the way you meant it, fine, but I am sure you can see by your own words why I would take your comment the way I did.

Can I post a pic of a product that was lousy enough that the picture looks terrible and I can't get a good angle to make the results look acceptable anyway? Yeah, I am sure I could. I can clean a window with that Turtle Wax Clear-View glass cleaner and no way could I hide all the streaks that garbage leaves behind.

I really haven't used any surface care products that are bad enough to really pick up well on film. If I come across one, I'll be sure and post a pic.

I've used P21S on my silver car before and it looked terrific! However, as much as I love P21S's shine (especially on dark colors), I'll have to give the slight edge to multiple layers of Z-2 when it comes to silver. :)

But you should definitely try it out yourself and not deprive yourself of a chance to try this wax. You may very well like it better than Z. I normally see my cars during the late afternoons, evenings and early mornings because of work. These are the times when Zaino is at it's best.
