I don't have enough for my entire product selection, which isn’t even that big, so for some infrequently used product I have to wash a pad or two out really well before and after use.
I am also thinking about obtaining some of the CMA pads to round out my collection.
(went through 2 Meguiar's pads one of the polishing and one cutting, along with 2 Lake Country Mfg. VC white polishing, much better than Meguiar's IMHO, Meguiar's lasted me for like 4 polishing session, the Lake Country ones lasted me for two years and 25+ buff outs before failure.)
Lake Country Mfg. (Makita)
1 (8.5 inch) advanced VC yellow cutting
1 (8.5 inch) advanced VC white polishing
1 (8.5 inch) advanced VC black finishing
Also will get 2 3M compounding waffle pads and 2 waffle polishing pads.
The pads themselves cost more almost as much as the machines.....or darn close...
How many pads??!! Forget that!! The last time I said and showed a picture of them, I thought someone was going to call the white padded truck for me!!!
Currently have 1 yellow 6" cutting pad, 2 6" polishing pads, 2 orange power pads, and 1 7.5" grey pad. There are 2 7.5" yellow and 2 7.5" white pads in a box, that have left the Chicago area, coming from Florida, on their way to Iowa as we speak...
not to mention the box of MF towels on their way from Hawaii....
I thought I'd revive this old thread just for fun, since I recently got a PC 7424 in the new year and have been stocking up on supplies. (still haven't actually had a chance to use this puppy yet, but hopefully soon... Spring-like weather has been teasing us up here lately).
Anyway, here's my list of pads (for PC):
Meguiar's
2x - 6.5" yellow polishing pads
Lake Country Mfg.
2x - 6" VC yellow cutting pads
2x - 6" VC white polishing pads
2x - 6" VC black finishing pads
(zero orange, zero wool, and zero bonnets so far)
How's that for starting off?
I'm kinda wondering if I should've even bothered getting the "finishing" pads. It doesn't seem like many people use them... they either apply LSPs by hand or use a polishing pad instead. At least that's the general impression I get.
I cleaned up when I saw free shipping promos and good deals at various vendors. Plus I take advantage of the Autopia discount in David's store and bought a few
Believe me, this was a work in process over a year's time.
I have All Meguiars PC pads, they seem to hold up just fine for my tasks. This is my inventory.
3 W-9006 pads
3 W-8006 pads
2 W-7006 pads
Tim, as much schtuff as you have, you need someone to sit down with you a rag and some ice, say "there there now, everything is going to be ok" LMAO! ,,,,91
