The post considered most authoritative on this is here: http://autopia.org/forum/647893-post19.html Bottom line, most paint companies say 3 months is a good idea. in the meantime the safest way to get some protection is with a body-shop safe glaze like Megs #5. It just won't have any the kind of durability you get from wax.
