I had the whole front end of my car painted about 2 months ago and I really want to put a coat of wax on it. The problem is I keep on getting different answers for how long to wait, My body shop said 90days, i Have also seen 30 and 60 days so whats the consensus?

I assume a QD like OID is OK for fresh paint?

I'm getting my rear bumper re-painted next week and while I won't wax or seal it for 90 days, I intend to QD with OID after my first hand wash a week after the paint job and each week after unless someone knows this will not be good for the fresh paint/clearcoat.

When I asked this question over at MOL, I was advised by Mike Pennington that M34 Final Inspection, being body shop safe and silicone-free, would be the safest of Meguiar's quick detailers to use on fresh paint.

i haven't seen a body shop around me 'bake on' any paint.. its certainly not like the factory paint job that im sure goes into big ovens to cure... but then again.. after a body shop paints, they have to wet sand and then polish with rotorys... so if that doesn't hurt the paint, why would waxing??

This comes up all the time and we never reach a consensus. At best we agree to disagree and at worst it gets really :argue

I still use Meg's #5 for 90 days minimum, no matter what. Just as the paint manufacturers say to do. Just as both my painters say too.
