How important is it to separate different mf's when washing?

I've heard that it's not good to wash mf towels used to clean glass with other mf towels used for buffing, qd'ing, etc. Is this true?

How about mixing waffle weaves used for drying with towels used for buffing wax? I specifically recollect that people experienced problems drying with their ww if they previously used it to apply EO Wax As-U-Dry, which made me think of separating towels used for wax removal in general from other towels when washing. Any suggestions? What do you guys do? Thanks!

By the way, I have to use a coin-op laundry, so consolidating loads if possible would always be the preference.

I used to wash my WW glass and drying MF separately, but now I just throw them in all together and wash with the MF concentrate from CMA and haven't had any problems. I do however separate MF that I used with tire dressings or trim restorers. I typically use the cheapo Sam's MF or rags for those anyways and usually end up just tossing them after they get all gummed up with product. I tried washing the MF after using Black Again and seemed like it came out of the wash with most of the product still soaked in the towel.

I thought I read somewhere that products with silicones will cause streaking if washed with glass and QD type towels. But I don't have many products with silicone in them (other than my tire and trim dressings). Or at least I don't think I do :think2 .

I have two separate loads....

The MFs designated to my car only

and

The MFs for everything else :).

If the MF is extremely soiled, I will throw it away.

I wash my glass-only MFs separately so they don't pick up lint from the other towels, learned to do this the hard way :o

I wash all my other ones together, though I'll pre-wash any that're really dirty. Never had any problems with cross-contamination.

All my auto MFs go in the same wash. The only trouble I had was when some green dye leaked from a towel I was tested and dyed some white towels.

I wash QD and drying towels together. I wash interior buffing towels such as I use for Protectant 303, Lexol, etc. in another batch.
