Hello to all,
I have been reading a lot in these forums for quite some time. I recently bought:
* A PC 7424 from Amazon
* ZAIO, ZPC, Z2, Z5 from Zaino
* Sonus Claybars from Autopia Car Care
* Detailing towels from Autopia Car Care
* 3.5" backing plate and 5" pads (1 Yellow, 2 Orange, 2 White, 1 Black) from Danase
So the problem is I did not receive my backing plate from Danase in time to be sent to Nicaragua (where I live), he was out of stock, so I was thinking that I could make my own backing plate from the stock 7424 pad. Here is what I did:
This is the original PC Pad we all know:
I used a small Victorinox knife to separate the backing plate and pad:
Here is the backing plate alone, I used a Dremel Rotary tool (my favorite tool as of now) to remove the glue from the baking plate:
I measured the backing plate against my pads, the size is OK I guess:
Then I went to the hardware store and bought some adhesive velcro and applied it to the backing plate and original pad:
It works great and it works with the Danase pads too:
I am now ready to begin :buffing:
Please let me know your comments.
Randall
