How Hot & Humid is to Much??

I am wondering when everyone else decides it's too hot?

I started Opti-Coating my dd about a month ago and I’ve only finished the hood, roof, trunk, front & rear bumpers. I was hoping to continue with the rest of the car this weekend but this is the forecast for Saturday….”Clear in the morning, then partly cloudy. High of 104F with a heat index of 113F” The process I’ve used so far has been clay, Meg’s UC , Megs 205 followed by ipa wipe down then Opti-Coat. I’ve been working in a garage but think this weekend might be too hot and the products a little difficult to work with.

Sadly I live in the wrong state haha.

Once it starts hitting the humidity in the high 80-90% range.. anything above 85 just feels awful to me.

I hate that before I even get to wash a car, I am soaked from head to toe in sweat.

On the other hand.. This state from Oct to the middle of June is amazing for detailing.. so I will stop complaining now =D

Tell me about it. Makes me long for my San Diego days.

I believe the max recommend temp for OC is in the 90s. Have a couple of customers interested but am recommending they wait - even with my garage AC!

For me, anything above 90F makes it extremely hard to detail. Days like those make it even hard to wash a car. Sadly, I live in a state where it's like this half of the year LOL!

Some products might not be at their best, but still effective. I would definitely wait on the OC, though.

I am in the same boat. We are expecting to hit a record here in NC for the most consecutive days over 100 and had the hottest 4th on record. Not going to break until Monday. While I am a little more selective of the jobs I take when it is this hot, you just have to suck it up sometimes. It is during weather like this that we really earn our money. Watch a person trying to wash their own car and most throw in the towel (no pun intended) the second they finish rinsing. I simply laugh and say "Now go another 8 hours and then tell me what it is worth to have someone else do it."

I'm in it too. We'll be hitting our third heat wave this weekend (7/7) and I haven't had too much of a problem working in 100% humidity. I'll do my driveway work as early as possible then rush it into the garage and start doing tar, clay, etc. hopefully start buffing by noon. Once I get back from a little lunch I turn the fan on and sweat my nuts off. The only problem I really have with the humidity is the way it (sometimes) makes compound and polish behave.
My Dziadziu (grandpa/Polish immigrant) use to fix shoes on the side back in the 50's and 60's for extra cash, he use to do this in a third level attic with no air of any kind. My mother would say that she'd go up to see him and he'd be dripping in sweat wearing pants and a tank top working non-stop with a cigarette dangling off his lower lip and he never once complained about it, just did what needed to be done. Crazy? yes, but I try to keep my mind focused on the task at hand and what that goal is. I can't control the environment, I just have to exist in it. In other words, it is what it is.

Thanks for the comments. I was not aware of the OC recommended temps. So with that in mind I'll just wait for some cooler weather.

Off-topic, but real men like this is what built this country. :bigups

yeah the heat really sucks. i'm here in central tx. it gets pretty hot but thankfully doesn't rain much so humidity is not a big deal most of the time

i have had to switch to sun friendly products because its just too much dang elbow grease to get non sun friendly products on and off quickly enough

i'd say over 100 degrees is my "too hot" but honestly i think anything above 90 is a pain in the butt

you know its hot when the ONR starts to dry before you can wipe off the panel!!!
i bought a foam gun and a gallon of citrus wash and dp xtreme foam but have not used it on anyones car but my own because im too afraid of making myself have to do more work than necessary so i just switched to ONR most of the time
