How hard or soft is infiniti paint ?

I dont know about the newer years, but i did a black '97 I30 couple weeks ago, and that clear coat is a ROCK! Had to bust out OC and yellow pad on PC and Still could only budge about 50% of the marring.

I'd call a corvette a 10 and a black porsche a 1. So I would say the infiniti is a 6. I have done a Black M35 that was a mess, a black G35 that did not seem as bad, but had less defects. This silver 350Z was a little bit of a PITA, but it had some severe marring and some deep scratches.

I had 2 of them a few years back, and I thought the paint was very hard. Good coat of clear and had no problems.

I dunno, the infiniti i worked on was hard as a ROCK. Maybe some HTEC or Blackfire polish next time..

keep us posted!

Infiniti/Nissan paint as a whole has a hard clearcoat. I owned 2 Maximas and they both ahd rock solid clears. However, you might want to invest in a clear bra because Nissan paint is prone to chipping like crazy.

I will agree with the chipping. I have a red G36 Coupe with clear bra, and I still get chips where ever there is not bra coverage. Not experienced enough to comment on clear coat hardness.

I have an '04 Black coupe. Chips like crazy, even on areas on sides of car. I've polished it several times. I did it again last friday due to a body shop nightmare. I used Megs #83 followed by Menzerna FPII. I have used #80 in the past with good results, but this damage was too great. I would say that the paint is of medium hardness. Certainly not soft like Honda paint. Not super hard. However, it can also be very finicky. I think if you use something like I did, you will have good results.

My 2003 G35 paint seems towards the hard end of the scale, although it chips like crazy! It does take a fair amount of polishing to correct defects though and usually several passes must be made (via PC, not rotary).
