How do you wash the top of Vans?

Okay, I'm new to this. my brother has about 9 service Vans in his company. Do I just climb up on top and start working? Do you lay down a towel or anything? This goes for tall vehicles of any type. It is the one thing that I've always wondered. I'm not the most mobile guy due to my back injury, but I think I could limp through it when I have too. Do you use ladders? :wha :newbie

For washing, I bought a boar's hair truck brush from Top of the Line. It is a six foot or so wooden pole with a large boars hair brush mounted on the end. It is great for washing the tops of SUVs and vans. Buffing, however, is another story. Being that you have a bad back, you should use an elevated platform or some type of step ladder.

I would not climb on top of it. I would use a ladder and boars hair brush of some sort.

Thanks for the input. I ordered a Boar's hair long brush and I will try to find that Gorilla step ladder. It should be good enough for me.

tape some pipe insulation around the legs of your ladders for a bumper--don't want to scuff the paint if you bump into it. I wash 10 to 12 "micro-busses" a week and we actually have built a 2x4 scaffold that we can roll up to the sides of them and lock the wheels.= allot safer than stretching out on step ladders and we use long handled boars hair brushes also--good stuff! but get ready to muscle up and scrub! you can't get them clean by just mopping at them with the brush! and when you push to hard while your on a ladder you will bust your arse if your not careful! just my .o2 :eek
