So, how do you pronounce the mother of all automotive pigment salves and lotions? :)

I say "kar-nob-ah".

BTW, the first 3 options are "dictionary approved". :D

LOL! I was going to post this poll, too!!!

I say "Car - noo- ba", but my American Heritage Dictionary has it pronounced as "Car - nah - ba" ("aw" for us southerners! ;) ).

Oh well!! Don't know if I can change my pronounciation now, but I'll try!!

I loaded my American Heritage Talking Dictionary cd to see how they pronounced it after seeing Volvo4Me's reply. I guess you learn something new every day. I always pronounced it as "Car new ba", and I still will.:D

Now if you were in Brasil... It is definitely pronounced Car-NOW-bah. But up here I definitely have heard it pronounced car-new-bah.

What he said.

When I read this title I thought to myself, "What, this is an issue? There are 7 posts, and I bet all 7 are going to be people suggesting Hooked on Phonics for the creator." I've always pronounced, and heard it pronounced CAR-NEW-BAH, but I guess I'm learning that there are other people who think (mistakenly) that it's pronounced another way, just because their dictionaries (mistakenly) say it's pronounced another way. ;)

My gf pointed out that I like learning new things. I think she's right.

Time for bed,

Hmmmm, I wonder how my post got deleted when I posted well ahead of most of the others here?

Anyhow,

I think it's car-naw-ba or car-nau-ba. I say it like it's spelled. I think it's more of a geographic thing really. Like I had previously stated, I wouldn't pronounce "auburn" , "ewwburn."

:)
