How do you heat your garage? SAFELY

I want a Safe way to heat my garage this winter when I work in it. Just so its comfortable. Only a few hours here and there.

Its a 20x20 or so with a 9x7 work area. Ceiling is like 14 feet too. Only one car is parked on one side.
Not insulated.
I have a propane tank top heater. (I don`t think that`s the safest option)
Currently its 41 in there.
I`m considering a kerosene heater but someone mentioned they can blow black soot. (Isn`t that only if you dont take care of it?)
I am an electrician and could install an electric heater, but resistive loads are costly to the electric bill. Maybe won`t be bad if it`s only used occasionally.

Anyone suggestions appreciated!

Since you are an electrician, why not install a wall mounted heater/ac unit in your garage

I just open the door to the house and turn on the heater :)

sometimes I will leave the door open during the day but then I find my dog sleeping in the garage on the cold concrete, haha

This is what I have been doing this year, door open with box fan on low for hour or so before i go out there. Also could add a small 1500 watt heater on other side of thee garage to get it a little warmer while out there. I did a Kerosene / diesel heater last 2 years and it gets it amazingly warm really quick but fumes are horrible unless you open outside window or door enough that its cold at the floor and the heater has bee on constant its a loosing battle.

I use a kero heater, for a garage a 70,000 btu would be enough, use a portable thermostat so you can set it and forget it. We use a 210,000 btu one at work and it burns clean enough that its not terribly unpleasant, but you will smell like diesel if your in it for several hours. A propane salamander is a good option, but I dont know if it can be used with a thermostat.

Id use a QUALITY kerosene heater w this.

Easiest way: layer up and do the occasional set of jumping jacks here and there :P . I`m hot-natured so it worked for me when i was in VA washing cars in <20 degree weather.

Well, my 1500w portable heater got it to 50 degrees . Raised it from 42 degrees.
Plenty warm to do a layer of FK1000P.
I guess I`m gonna look into a unit big enough to heat it like the garage is in the Florida sun.

I just realized I have a natural gas connection in my garage for my hot water heater. I assume the regulator would need to change to add a second device.

I`d like to figure something out too. I`m ordering the garage door insulation kit from Home Depot. It seems to have good reviews. Honestly I just want to be able to apply wax without it thickening from being insanely cold
