How do you apply UPP?

I just recently bought UPP and was wondering how to use it? Are the direction on the bottle appropriate or is there a better way?



Application:

By hand, Terry, foam, or MF applicator?



By PC any better? Wich type of pad if so.



Any need to wet down the pads before UPP like using water with SG?



Is UPP layerable like SG?



Any cure time? Should the UPP sit on the surface for anytime before removed or is it WOWO?

I like to use a finishing pad on the PC @3.5 or so. I usually wait at least an hour before removing, longer with humudity in memphis.



Three layers is about the point of diminishing returns for me.

Did you get UPC or are you planning on using AIO?
 
I tried it once with PC, once by hand, it's easy either way.



My guess on layerability is, not really. Two coats to ensure complete coverage, and move on.
 
UPP is a great product - as ebpcivicsi mentions it is very slick. Consensus on the board is that 3 coats of UPP is optimal and topped with your carnuba of choice - for me it's Pinnacle SG. You will find though that the slickness will decrease over time although you will still get very tight beads. It's a great product that I highly recommend although I will be going back to Z for the winter time protection.
 
I've wet a 4" foamie with Eagle One Wipe & Shine before adding UPP to the pad, repeating every 2-3 UPP dabs. Make sure to gently fold the foamie in half to spread the mixture evenly over the pad before going to the paintwok. This helps to get it very thin (like CMA recommends with applying AIO). No ill effects, very slick finish, awesome shine. In fact, I use UPP, Klasse SG and SONUS Acrylic Spritz in random order while layering product.
 
I thought UPP was just a polish, no need to layer. I would think you would want to use 1Z's PP after UPP, one of each to remove swirls, then use a glaze if you want, then seal/wax.

Hmm...I think/hope it is a sealant.

It is. The directions on the bottle are adequate. But depending on which version you got, the setting times may be optimistic. The older versions needed 45 minutes or so. I noticed that on the last batch I have (still called Platinum) it said 15 minutes, so it was updated.



I understand the newest version has a nicer smell and sets quickly also.



I wouldn't bother with a damp applicator or a PC. That stuff spreads like butter. I can apply to the whole car in under 10 minutes.
