How do u apply Meg endurance ....?

tire dressing. I just bought some, used a foam pad but it was very very messy. When I used the foam pad it truned completly black, and was coming off all over my hands.



Does anybody have a good tips on how to apply this product.

If this is the same stuff I'm thinking of, mine came with a hard foam applicator that was contoured to the profile of a tire. It works very well for me. The consistency of the foam is pretty "plasticy" and not "rubbery" like foam pads. If this description is failing to paint a picture, let me know and I'll take a pic of it.

The product I have is purple, smells like grapes and is jell like. Maybee I can get the foam pad for tires, I think I've seen it at pep boys.

I've got Eagle One Tire Swipes. They work good but you may still get some of the Meg Endurance on your hands. You could try disposable plastic gloves. I notice the 4 Runner in your avatar. The regular Tire Swipes are 4" long. They also make a 6" one for trucks and SUVs. The regular sized ones are a little more messy on those big SUV tires. I think I found these at Wal-Mart. what you want to get is the Eagle One Tire Swipe. Procedure:



1) Apply a liberal ammount to applicator and work into tire sidewall. Be careful not to get any past the first set of (wraparound) treads as this can hurt traction and cause potential harm. Work into all crevases and arround wheel thoroughly.



2) Allow this to sit for ~15 minutes to a half an hour.



3) come back and buff off all remaining with a dry rag (I just use shop rags for this purpose.)



4) if desired, you can apply a second coat for even darker and shinier results. Otherwise you're finished!

I was trying to thing of where I had seen a foam pad with a similar consistency to the one that came with my Endurance and I just remembered it. They have a foam pad with a plastic handle back that is sold at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. as a grill cleaner. Obviously not the steel wool one, but again, it's a fairly open "grit" plastic type foam. That should do the trick.

I don't know... any dressing with petroleum distillates get my applicators and hands greasy and black, even if I first get them squeaky clean w/ Eagle One. Maybe it's because the strong solvents attack the "black" of the rubber...

I'd just reserve a certain foam applicator to get ruined for this purpose, and wear some latex surgical gloves while touching/using the applicator.

Yes, i used EO tire cleaner and I'm not worring about my hands getting dirty, it's just plain messy. thanks paw & shiny for the tip, i will try the EO tire wipes.
 
I have found those handled scrubbers for doing pots & dishes excellent for applying endurance - or other similar tyre dressings.



I remove the abrasive part of the scrubber leaving the foam underneath. The handle keeps your hand away from the mess and you have better control i feel then those tyre swipes stores sell.
