Paul's Instructions
Here's a few tips...
Use SSR2 with a green Propel pad on speed 5 or 6.
Use SSR1 with a blue pad on speed 5.
UPP is best applied by hand with a foam hand applicator. If you don't have any, you can get them at any major store. WalMart has the yellow Meguiars foam apps in 2-packs.
Those are my favorite ones.
I'm guessing you bought two wash mitts because you are going to use one for the paint and one for wheels. That's a good idea. I have 3 mitts that I use...one for paint/glass, one for wheels, and one for wheelwells. Two is fine though.
What order to use the products in...
These are the products (in order) that you should apply to your paint.
Wash with your two wash mitts and NXT car wash.
Dry with your blue WW towel.
Polish with the PC and a green pad with SSR2.
Polish with the PC and a blue pad with SSR1.
Apply Klasse AIO with a blue pad or by hand.
Apply FourStar UPP by hand.
Wait at least 24 hrs...
After 24 hrs, wash the car again (*IF* it's been driven during the previous 24hrs...if not, you should be able to dust it off or use a QD and continue.)
You can apply another layer of UPP if you want, or just apply a coat of Souveran over the UPP. You can add multiple layers of Souveran too if you want to. Again, wait 24hrs between layers of any sealant or wax.
Oh, and your backing plate should just screw right in to the head of the machine. Use the flat wrench that is included to hold the nut while you screw on the backing plate.
If you have more questions, I'd prefer to answer them in the chat. PM me again when you are able to go into the chat. It's easier to answer questions in there.
Do I wet the pads before I use any of these products?? or do i keep the car wet? or just on dry?
You can spray a light mist on the pads if you want to. Many people believe that the products work better if the pads are slightly damp with water. I've done it both ways. It doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference to me.
If the pads are too wet, the centrifugal force of the spinning pad will push most of the water out of the foam anyway.
Oh I forgot a step in the process...
CLAY - Some people wash the car, rinse it, and then clay. After claying a section (a door, a fender...) dry it off with a MF towel. Then keep going around the car until it's done and glassy smooth.
I prefer to wash the whole car, then dry the whole car. Then clay. Spray the clay lube on the area, then use the clay bar, then dry off with a MF towel.
This should be the FIRST step, performed before the SSRs.
The only step that the car should be wet for is the claying. Keep the area well-lubricated with QD or water + NXT soap while you're claying. If your clay sticks to the paint, add more lubricant.
To mix the NXT soap and water for claying, I put a spot about the size of a dime on the bottom of a 32oz spray bottle, and fill the rest with distilled water. You don't have to use distilled water, but I prefer to.
Thanks guys...here are a picture of the cars:
