How do I get rid of static cling?

After washing my brand new mf's with microrestore, and drying them on the lowest heat setting without any dryer sheets, the static cling was ridiculous! I think the hair on my head was starting to stand up by the time I finished folding them! Some of the towels actually felt like they were velcroed together, the static was so bad. Since we can't use dryer sheets, is there anything I can do about this?

Same thing happens to me too Jason! Same detergent (Micro-Restore) and drying on low heat. When I did a load a couple of days ago I tried to stop the dryer before they got too dry and that helps a little.

If I don't get the dryer stopped in time I'll throw in a wet MF and run it for just a couple of minutes. That seems long enough to kill the static but not get the MF's too damp to fold and put away.

Interesting, never thought about throwing in a damp towel. I wonder how much harm throwing in a dryer sheet for 5 minutes would do?

Dont do it.....Never let the MF's dry completely...I prefer mine a little damp anyway.....

I always let my towels air dry. Just lay them flat on a clean surface. I usually lay mine over a stack of other cotton towels I have in the garage.

Z6 will definitely remove the static cling, but at the obvious downside that you will have some Z6 residue on the MF towel (which may be ok depending on what you will be using the MF for).

My dryer has multiple dryer settings (damp, dry, dryer, dryest type settings), so I will just set it between damp and dry from now on and see how that works. I'd lay them out to air dry, but laying out 10-20 towels would put towels everywhere!

I have a metal fold up clothes rack that I have standing in my laundry room and I hang the towels to air dry there.

Dryer sheets are intended to leave a residue to make clothes "feel" better. That's a bad thing for MF. Like John said, just take them out a little early.

If you miss taking them out early the damp towel thrown in makes a lot of sense. You're not introducing any strange chemicals. You're just increasing moisture, which will naturally improve electrostatic charge dissipation.
