Ok, i just started zainoing my car for the very first time this morning. Started with a dawn wash, followed by a claying with clay magic clay and Zaino Z-7 mix as a lube. I accidently moved the clay over to a part of my hood that wasn't lubed and the clay came to a screeching halt. I proceded to really get it wet with z-7 followed by more claying and i thought i had removed it but i didn't. it must have been the lighting in my garage because after i put on my first coat of Z-5 and was buffing it off i noticed the smear mark still there. Can anyone tell me what my next step should be to get this stupid mark off my hood? i've tried z-6 with microfiber and its not budging. help!

interesting...I may have had a similar experience with the CMA Poly Clay this morning. I kept buffing with the clay and lube and the mark disappeared. I used PS21 Paint Cleansing Lotion as well. After I reapplied the AIO & SG, there did not appear to be any smears.

Maybe try some isopropyl alcohol with a MF, beyond that I’d say you have to go for a mild cleaner/abrasive.

Curious of the surface temp you were working with. I noticed clay really likes to smear on warm surfaces.

It was prolly 60 degrees in my garage but the hood was a warmer because i ran the car to autozone to get the clay.... my guess was it was no more than 75 degrees after i washed the car twice.
