How Crazy Are You?

I was talking with my g/f tonight telling her about all the steps I am going through on my detail with my Vette (wash, clay, sctatchx, wolfgang twins, s100). She is like "There is no way I would spend all that time and money on my car. Its just a car." So, just how crazy does your friends and/or family think you are with your obsession? :D

Beyond crazy. When I'm washing my car in the rain, or cleaning the backsides of my wheels, or applying protectant to my CV boots...I get some priceless looks/comments. :)

They don't know how much I spend to achieve my finish...........

I am crazy, but I demand the best for the money.....

BTW: Been there, done that with the 10 pm hand washes, knocking off salt from the beater, desperately avoiding the car wash; Oh and handwashing the new polished bling blings at night to avoid accumulation of dirt and oxidation.

I knew I couldn't be the only one doing this! Too bad I'm the only one on my street. In fact, I think I'm the only one on my street to hand wash his car.:(

Whenever one of my friends or family asks me a car question and I launch into a 20 minute explanation, I can usually tell by the "deer in the headlights look" they think they've made a mistake by even broaching the subject.

Of course I'm always the first one they call when they need advice on buying a new car!

So how do you wash a car in the rain? That's a new one on me. Do you just wash in the rain and then pull into the garage to MF dry?

I've been called O/C. Also, my friends say they are afraid of riding in my car for fear of getting it dirty.

I like to wash in the rain or at night. I use my Air Wand to dry, works great.

It's all in people's perspective, I guess. As others have pointed out here in the past, many people own $50,000+ cars, and treat them like crap. If your gf had $50,000 worth of jewelry or clothes or beanie babies (sorry, just an example), she would probably take very good care of them, and balk at your surprise at her cleaning jewlery or pressing clothes all the time. As I said, perspective and priorities.

My wife thinks I've been "brainwashed by an online cult", lol, but she loves how her car looks.

This is a good one! :lol

Besides my washes at night, or my washes at 7:00 AM in a Saturday they don't think I am that wacko.....

She's getting used to the time involved, but if she knew the money, I'd get an earful:rolleyes:

I told her "At least "The other woman" will always have 4 wheels":D

No more so than I am about everything else in my life :o

Actually, where my wife is concerned, she sorta *likes* that I'm this way. She agrees with my "responsibility of ownership" view and all our stuff is always good as new (or better ;) ).

Very true. Since I'm a girl my neighbors and friends give me this look everytime they see me cleaning the wheel wells, etc. They must really think I'm nuts

It's just priority.

:lol I know what you mean haha.

Milky - What kind of Mazda is that in your avatar? Protege?

Yup, for some reason everyone seems to avoid asking me questions about car care, they all mumble something like "Oh God here we go, sit down this is going to take a while"! Had a guy at work stop me one time and asked if I lived in xxx neighborhood that I looked familar. Told him yes and then he says " Yea, you're the guy that's always out washing/waxing the cars"! Neighbors tell me my cars and garage are cleaner than any part of their homes! :D Wife even got me a new mop for our wedding anniversary!!!!!!!! Use it to clean the garage floor. (it was a joke gift, but still.......)

I knew I was not the only person that has fireworks over my head when someone asks a car related question. Often times more information is given than they can absorb, or even wanted to know, LOL.

It really amazes me that so many people will balk at spending a couple hundred bucks to maintain a $50,000 car but will spend $10 for dry cleaning a $50 sweater.

PC.

I'm known as the weird car cleaning guy in my neighborhood!! My neighbors tell me that when my cars are dirty, they are still cleaner than theirs after a wash!! My wife says I'm O.C., and sadly, we get into a fight when I want to wash the car, so I now leave my Audi parked 75% of the time, and make her drive everywhere!!
