this absolutly drives me nuts, here's a car beautifully detailed, shiny, glossy, slick wet, tires dressed, etc. and at nite, or even during the day, you follow behind , your lights light up the underside of this beautifully detailed car and it's a freakin mess. like puttin on a tux with unpoilished shoes, i don't get it, it just ruins it for me. anyone out there with me on this or am i insane?:help:

I ran thread some time back about this...if I am working on a 4 x 4 as an example....I like to get at as much of the underside as possible and then dress that with a water based dressing...I also look at the car from different angles to see what can be seen while driving down the road....I know the owner / driver can't see that but like yourself...top side the car looks great only to see crud all over the gas tank and such

You are insane!!!!

FWIW, I wash the spare tire tub on my 1981 Corvette because it is visible from behind the car.
(But I'm not insane)

I always wash the undercarriage of my truck and then dress it with water based dressing. I am the type of person, that if you can see it it gets cleaned. I also have people complementing me all the time on how clean the undercarriage is.

I have the same moto....if you can see it then it should be clean

I set aside one or two times a year where I get on a creeper and roll around under there cleaning with diluted all purpose cleaner, a brush, and some rags. Generally, I'll put some type of cheap spray dressing on after that. Not only does it help it to retain a newer look, I think it also helps with future cleanups by making stuff easier to remove.
