Hot Water Extractor

I do not own one but have read many less than stellar reviews on it, I heard its problematic but again I have not used it. I would spend the extra $$ and step up to a mytee lite 2.

skitelleride531,

I have and use the hot water extractor you are thinking of getting. I read a review here about it where it was said by the reviewer that he had problems with the machine and bad customer service. I did my research first and talked to the person who is selling it in your link. He stated to me that the early runs from durrmaid did have problems and they were all sorted out. He also stated that he has sold about 30 and had only one need to be sent to the factory for repair. The factory then promptly gave him a new machine. I will ask one question , will you be using this machine every day or are you a weekend warrior who details some on the side for extra cash. If you will be using this machine just about every day I would say go for something like the Mytee with inline heat. Don't get me wrong this is a great machine and it will do wonders for the interior but it has some drawbacks, ie takes sometime to heat up(about 20 to 30 minutes) and small solution and recovery tanks.Other than these drawbacks this machine does put out very hot water 190-200 degrees 102 inches of lift and in my opinion has very good material construction. I have included some picture so you can see the the cleaning ability.

I first had a Durrmaid. I purchased it sometime early last year. It's now serving as a boat anchor in my garage because the pump broke. When I contacted Durrmaid, I had to pay for a new pump even though it was under warranty because I was told that I caused it to break!?!? After paying for the pump and paying to have it shipped to me, I attempted to install it because I was told that I'd be able to very easily. Wrong. Not only could I not get it installed, another piece of the unit broke.

I was quite upset with the whole ordeal seeing as it cost me about $700 total to have a boat anchor so I started doing a little more research. I found out that Durrmaid is just a CHEAP version of the Aztec.

I now have an Aztec. The quality difference between the two was apparent from the time I pulled it out of the box. The Aztec is a much nicer machine. I've used it a couple times and wish that I would have purchased it from the get-go.

Live and learn I guess, so to the OP: Don't buy the Durrmaid!

I currently own a Aztec Hot Spotter Extractor. It cost around $600. Which I'll admit is not cheap. But the time and performance of the machine have been well worth the money. Some of the ground in spills and stains it has removed have really impressed my clients. Five years ago when I started Showroom Shine Auto Detailing LLC. I was not thinking about investing in an extractor. Alot of the people on this site do not have or use them. I still use Folex, and some of the other good products on the market. But the extractor has made the difference in my business. Some clients ask if you have an extractor. This is because they think the only way to clean carpet is with one. I would rather have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

subscribed for future reference. good thread.

sorry to but in, but do hot water extractors pay for themselves as far as a weekend warriors standpoint goes?

Another Aztec owner checking in! I have 2 Rigid vacs and a Green Machine and now the Aztec listed in the link above. I find that the Rigid/Shop Vacs seem to work okay at first, then seem to loose suction as the filter gets wet. The Green Machine stays constant at suction, but its tanks are tiny and it does not like HOT water.-Tanks starts to change shape! The Aztec is like a Super Green Machine with HOT water and much higher pressure spray, WAY more suction, larger tanks and a wider suction tool. Things get cleaner faster and it dries much quicker. I would recommend it even for weekend warriors as the price is reasonable for how much time it will save you on any wet cleaning. I even brought mine to my full time and did about 17 office chairs in under three hours. The chairs were fully dry about 2-3 hours later in a closed office space-would be 1/2 hour if they were outside. If you have pets or kids, you will be using inside quite a bit as well.

If I was doing lots of larger, really dirty SUVs etc, I have run out of water in the solution tank, but if most cars have not been a problem. Get the Mytee if you have the room and are doing larger vehicles. I needed it to be smaller, so the Aztek is perfect for me! Now go out and get one for crying out loud!

dmw2692004,

Yes it has paid for itself without a problem. I did the van interior from the above pictures and another client's really nasty interior in her Land Cruiser. I also have a few more details coming up that will need the extractor, so yes I am glad I spent the green to have it even if it is only used once in a while.

Sounds like I'm going with the Aztec.

Thanks everyone!

I have an Aztec and it works great. Had it for about 5 years now and it runs like new. I would recommend to use distilled water to keep the buildup on the heater and hose to a minimum. Or simply flush it all out with filtered water after use. I only had to replace the switch and blow out the spray nozzle since I bought it. Other than the noise it makes, it's a great little cleaning machine.

I'm looking at the Aztec too, the only thing that the Durmaid seems to have over it is the second jet for seats. Can you not buy a smaller jet for the Aztec?

I have the mytee 3 gallon machine. What a waste in my experience. It is a good machine. but you wait 15 minutes for it to fully heat, and have to lug the thing around. I use strictly carpet shampoo and folex now for carpets. I am now selling the machine.

At my shop we use a Thermax Therminator DV12:

* Powerful dual two-stage vacuum motors (165 water lift) for faster cleaning, increased recovery speed and quicker drying time.

* Built-in 1800-watt solution pre-heating system for quick, uniform temperature control (up to 175°).

* 11-Gallon hygienic stainless steel solution tank.

* 12-Gallon large capacity recovery tank with automatic overflow protection shut-off and waste gate empty system.

* Single 25' power cord for one circuit operation.

* High-impact, chemical resistant housing with conditional lifetime warranty - virtually indestructible.

* 100 psi high-efficiency demand solution pump (65-psi pump option available for auto detailing).

* Engineered for mobility and stability, tip resistant operation.

* Built-in dolly handle for greater control and maneuverability.

* Large 8 rear wheels make it easy to go up and down stairs.

* Marine sealed switches.

There is really nothing else to say other than it kicks ***. It has probably sped my steam cleaning up 20% since we got it.
