Hot Rod Magazine, Mothers Power Tour

On Sunday the Hot Rod, Mothers Power tour made an unscheduled stop by Rad Rides by Troy which is about 5 miles from my house to check on the Mothers 59 delivery wagon that they are rebuilding. So I took a drive over to meet Forrest and take a look at the 59 along with the other stuff sitting around.Troy was kind enough to open the shop area to all of us to take a few pictures of projects in various stages of completion along with completed cars. They are now able to do everything in house with the exception of powder coating. After the majority of the crowd had left I had some time to talk with Troy about their paint work and the products and tools they are currently using. From the conversation about some of the issues they are having I offered a few possible solutions and I will be working with his finishing people to try and help them perfect their work even more than it already is, if that’s possible.I feel that’s quite an honor to be allowed to work with his people considering the reputation this shop has in the Hot Rod industry. If you’ve never seen their work check out their web page or FB page. They are a past winner of the Riddler award which is the highest award given to a car. Many people spend years and thousands of dollars trying to win it and never do. Something’s to notice is the chassis dyno built into the floor and the custom Snap On tool boxes with pictures of completed cars.

Note the name on the valve cover.

One of the custom tool boxes. Some of them are sitting with the car that is being built.

This car is called Blow Fish, it’s a 1969 Barracuda with a 4 cylinder engine that holds the record at Bonneville with a speed of 255.412 mph.

Here’s the motor it makes over 1000 HP.

Chassis dyno and custom tool boxes.

A couple of the Mothers cars on the tour. How about a 572 Chevelle with Wilwood brakes, or Forrest’s ride a ZR1 not to shabby.

Speaking of Forrest here he is and yours truly.

That is awesome!!!!! Thanks for sharing. I remember when they gave that to Troy to rebuild, saw it on they program. That is way cool!

Wow that's not only some excellent work and beautiful cars, but an awesome facility. What a great opportunity. I wonder if any of these cars will join the Power Tour in DuQuoin this year for the Street Machine Nationals?

Once again, I had an idea to visit the Power Tour. This year was in Charlotte but did not realize it until too late to make it.
