Well JaredP, someone finally addressed that elephant in the room. :)

Yes, I will be pulling for Texas, but you won't hear a 'Hook 'em Horns' cheer or see the 'Hook 'em' hand gesture as I'm not a Longhorn fan. Well, except for when the play OU and Arkansas (back in the old SWC days) and against the Aggies and any other time they are representing the fine state of Texas!

Now that they are in the Big12, I could care less. I miss the SWC!!!

When I got up and turned on the news this morning, I could tell that it was going to be a long couple of weeks having to hear about this repeatedly. I was hoping Texas would do me a favor. :(

Texas pulled McCoy after his shoulder injury, which really sucked, but I understand and agree as well. Even if it was at the cost of the game, it was good they though about his NFL career. Texas should have had the 'freshman' a little more trained. Too many reserved run plays. It was basically run, run, run, punt..... Sickening. He did get some good passes in. That shovel pass put the nail in the coffin. Though they came back pretty good and would have had a better chance if they didn't make that play.
They had a slim chance at the end of the game, and I was hoping on a last minute TD to throw it in overtime. But that sack was vicious. Once he dropped the ball, I was done watching the game. Kudos to Alabama. They took McCoy out early (too early) and took advantage of the situation.

Texas played good the first quarter, and I thought that it would have been a streak, but Alabama caught on and basically caught on to the plays.

Was a good game, would have been more interesting with McCoy, no doubt. Even if Texas would have lost with him, it wold have been closer......

Now for the Super Bowl.....

TB...who has the tissue out now?

I thought that TX was going to pull it out in the 4thQ looked good and then Bama took over. Sorry

and I am only kidding you on the tissue!

JP, well looks like I got caught in the ol' a-s-s-u-m-e trap as I assumed that you were a huge Alabama backer. Well then, condolences. :)

I really don't care about college football (or any "sport" anymore, really). I just get so tired of hearing the Alabama versus Auburn stuff here. You can't get away from it. Every Joe Sixpack from the trailer park here is a huge Alabama fan, and they let you know it. Think of the most annoying, blowhard fan you come into contact with, multiply the nail-on-chalkboard factor by tenfold, and you have the typical Alabama fan. The typical conversation will start with either "Roll Tide", "The Bear said...", or now, "Thirteen National Titles."

Color me surprised. Fishing and hunting still qualify as sports don't they? :)

Where do you think we get the term sportsmen from? :) Haha.

I just can't find it in me as an adult to get extremely excited about something I have no active involvement in or something that has no effect on my personal development - i.e. college or pro athletics. I guess it works for some folks, but as I have gotten older the things that excite me (enough to tell folks about anyway) are the things that I can actually go out, have a hand in, determine the outcome, etc, etc. Ball games just don't interest me that much anymore. Annoying fans turn me off even more.

Ooops <he yelps as he slinks away> :yikes: :surrender

I guess there's no need for me to bring up tomorrow night's Cowboys vs Eagles game then, eh?
:howdy :rofl

There's a difference between being a fan and an annoying fan. ;) I have no problems for people pulling for their team - even Alabama fans. But sometimes, it's okay to give it a rest. Particularly towards people who really aren't that into it.

I don't start every conversation with "gobble gobble" or "Ben Lee once said...". Is it that hard for others not to begin every statement they make to you with "Roll Tide?" Seriously?

LOL!!! Try having your good buddy sitting next to you in the blind lean over and give you a solid blast from his duck call in your ear just to break the boredom. Add the fact that you might have been dozing just a bit since you went to bed at midnight and got up at 2 a.m. to get to the blind before 4 a.m. Now that's annoying. :wall

This is what really annoys me too. It is amazing how much time people spend on discussing college or professional sports....seems a waste but to each his own. Why have a mental crisis if your team loses?

I was disappointed UT didn't win, but my Father and Sister in Law are happy since they are UA Alumni. I so wanted to be able to call my Father in Law and say "Hook em Horns!".
