Hello,
I recently attended a car show with my 93 MR2. A lady two cars up from me had an canopy type umbrella to keep her under the shade. Well, the umbrella, according to her came out of the ground, flew down and landed on the hood of my car.
Well, insurance is not going to cover it, so I need to fix it as cheaply as possible. It will cost a $416 to get it repainted.
But.. I think the white marks left by the plastic of the umbrella on the hood can be buffed out with a medium grade polish, maybe. I'm not sure what you can tell from these pics.
It also left a very tiny ping dent, and in the middle of the ping dent there is a little grey mark that I can't catch with my fingernail, so I don't think it's a knick in the paint, but maybe the clear coat? I hoping to be able to get this all buffed out.
This car was repainted base coat/clear coat back in Nov. 2006, and has never really been polished yet. So, I'm a newbie when it comes to anything other than cleaner wax, and detailing sprays. My brother has experience with a rotary, but I would like to know what products to try before I have him touch it.
I'm going to have the paintless dent removal guy look at the ping dent on Monday. He said it should be easy to remove since it's very shallow, and easily accessible.
Scene where the damage occured:
