homemade hand polishing utility

I've been reading detailing forums for a few years now and have never seen anyone mention anything like this.

3M sanding block and a folded microfiber towel= a great KAIO appilcator or any polish that needs to be worked. It also works great for hand polishing with a diminishing abrasive like Meguiars ScratchX or Zaino Z-PC Fusion. The Block cost at the most $5. By being able to apply equal heavy or light pressure this tool does the job and is easy to use.

Make sure the block you buy has nails to secure towel

Cool, that could be a neat hack for me to try polishing by hand while I save up to get a PC. But do the nails rip and tear into the MF towel? I wouldn't want to ruin a perfectly good towel. Where did you pick up the block at: Home Depot, Lowes, ACE Hardware?

Hey Mike, in your other thread you mentioned how you applied Zaino with a MF attached to some plastic handle thingie? Got a picture of that setup? How does the sanding block compare to the plastic handle? And do you have any recommendations on which polishes to use by hand? I found this thread today on Poorboy's World's forum and this guy got some good result using the SSR polishes: poorboysworld.net :: View topic - can the ssr products be applied by hand?.

Using the 4" orange pad with a handle seem to have more of a cut than this microfiber tool but not that much.
