OTC Home Detailer
A coworker of mine - well she has a Great Dane/St. Bernard Mix dog. It's 10 months old I think. Well, to make a long story short, it pissed in her car. My buddy and I opened up the door and the smell smacked us in the face. She said no to a detail due to lack of money, but asked if there was anything she could buy to clean it, or at least get the smell out. It is absolutely horrifying. I couldn't get any closer than the open door.

Question is: Is there anything I can recommend to her to buy to get rid of the odor, or at least neutralize it some? It has to be OTC, no exceptions (I'm not buying it, she is).

Gasoline and a match...

Just kidding. Tell her to go to a store that sells custodial goods. I doubt Febreeze, Folex, or any other OTC will do much except barely distract you from the smell for a day or so.

You can buy gas and matches just about anywhere........LOL

Sorry...no clue as to what OTC products to use...
Maybe kids and pets?
I know there was a post a while ago about urine smells.
Let me see if I can find it......

EDIT....you beat me too it CART!

tell me about it. I have thought about it a few times...LOL

On a serious note....Search keywords like urine, piss, pee, etc....there are a few good threads floating around.

I am probably going to get told that he said "it has to be otc", but here is a link to top of the line odor removal products http://www.topoftheline.com/odors.html. To me, their prices a not to high on these products if they work as the site states.

It has to be OTC! J/K

Those really would be the best choice. It would probably only cost around $20 to get it shipped. I'm not sure an OTC product will be able to eliminate the odor, but instead just cover it.

Is it me or there alot of animals peeing in cars lately....lol...anyway if she wants something OTC then try one of the larger Pet chain stores...they carry whole lines of products meant to remove and elimanate pet odors and stains.

Like Petco or Petsmart

Was it a male or female dog? The females urine contains an additional chemical in it that will take the color out of the carpet.

Extractor rental from the supermarket. Should be $20. She may have already lost the battle though. A Great Dane pisses about a gallon at a time!

One question that has not been asked is....where is the urine in the car and what is it on....cloth inside or leather? just the rugs?

Good point if it's just the rugs then replace them.

Holy Cow?!?!?!? Try HOLY HORSE!?!?!?!!? pee-pee coming from a Great Dane\Bernard Mix is equivalent to a horse. If that thing peed in the car it is saturated for sure. That carpet is going to have to come out.... They pee for ever a friend of mine has a great dane. It pee's for like 2 minutes straight....

Man that is a lot!

Tell her to go to the pet storea nd pick up some Nature's Miracle. It works very well to clean up stains and neutralize the odor.

I dont really have any suggestions that havent been stated but I had to get my HaHa's in on the thread.

LOL

After a good protein stain remover, she could use OdoBan to apply to the area for any residual odors. It's available at most Sam's and some Walmarts. It is a deodorizer, sanitizer, disinfectant, mildewstat, and virucide.

It is a dilutible concentrate and flat out works. I used it in my refrigerator to eliminate the last traces of rotten food smell when we had no power for three + weeks after Hurricane Rita.

From their website:
For urine, feces and vomit on carpet and upholstery. Clean prior to application then spray onto affected areas. Test hidden areas for colorfastness. Allow 10 minutes contact time. Then blot with clean cloth. Allow to dry.

I always have a bottle of Meguiar's car odor eliminator. Works great. I spilled gasoline in my trunk once. The whole car was filled with the fumes I sprayed it all down left the doors open the smell was gone in 10 minutes after I sprayed the car only twice! I also smoke a bit of wacky tobbacy the girlfriend doesn't like the Legend smelling like it. I spray that in there BAM the smell is gone the next morning if I spray it at night.
